Flatt and Scruggs subsequently cut their own version of the theme ( with Flatt singing ) for Columbia Records ; released as a single, it reached # 44 on Billboard Hot 100 pop music chart and # 1 on the Billboard Hot Country chart ( the lone country chart-topper for the duo ).

The Country Music Hall of Fame inducted Wills in 1968 and the Texas State Legislature honored him for his contribution to American music.

When the Country Music Association was founded in 1958, the term hillbilly music gradually fell out of use.

Later, the music industry merged hillbilly music, Western Swing, and Cowboy music, to form the current category C & W, Country and Western.

Live music venues can be found throughout the city, with the highest concentration in the Westport entertainment district centered on Broadway and Westport Road near the Country Club Plaza, as well as the 18th & Vine area ( jazz music ).

While stereotyped as rural music, the Country music format is common and popular throughout the United States and in some other countries ( particularly Canada and Australia, both of which share much of the same Anglo-Saxon and Celtic roots as the United States ).

Country has been a popular radio format since the early days of music radio, dating back to the early days of radio itself when barn dance radio programs were widely popular ; however, the format was indeed originally a predominantly rural phenomenon, especially on AM radio.

As the city's name itself is a metonym for the country music industry, many popular tourist sites involve country music, including the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Belcourt Theatre, and Ryman Auditorium.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is another major attraction relating to the popularity of country music.

A number of Blues musicians have also used proverbs extensively., The frequent use of proverbs in Country music has led to published studies of proverbs in this genre., The Reggae artist Jahdan Blakkamoore has recorded a piece titled Proverbs Remix.

With the early 2002 addition of stand-up bassist Bob Crawford, formerly of The Memphis Quick 50, the band released their first full length album Country Was.

Following his success with Die Hard, he had a supporting role in the drama In Country as Vietnam veteran Emmett Smith and also provided the voice for a talking baby in Look Who's Talking, as well as its sequel Look Who's Talking Too.

In early 2005, Whitman released a book entitled It's My Party, Too: Taking Back the Republican Party ... And Bringing the Country Together Again in which she criticizes the policies of the George W. Bush administration and its electoral strategy, which she views as divisive.

On March 3, Salman Ahmad appeared on the documentary It's My Country Too: Muslim Americans aired on BBC television documentary strand This World.

Its only single, " Too Lazy to Work, Too Nervous to Steal ", peaked at No. 11 on Country Singles Sales but did not enter the country singles charts proper.

The UK publication Country Music People also gave her a five star review saying " As we lament the death of Slim Dusty, here is evidence that authentic, yet contemporary Australian bush country has not died with his passing.

Slim Newton popularised redbacks in his song " Redback on the toilet seat ", which won the Golden Guitar at the first Country Music Awards of Australia in 1973.
