Cropsey and his wife Maria are buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York.

The town of Kochsville was founded when the Clinton, Bloomington and Northeastern Railroad was finished from Colfax to Bloomington ; in 1880 the part of the railroad from Kankakee to Colfax had been finished, resulting in the 1880 founding of Cropsey, Anchor, and Colfax ; but the remainder of the railroad was delayed for two years.

Following an incident in June 1864, in which Meade disciplined reporter Edward Cropsey from The Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper for an unfavorable article, all of the press assigned to his army agreed to mention Meade only in conjunction with setbacks.

While absent from school, Cropsey taught himself to draw.

Cropsey was a personal friend of Henry Tappan, the president of the University of Michigan from 1852 to 1863.

But Cropsey was best known for his lavish use of color and, as a first-generation member from the Hudson River School, painted autumn landscapes that startled viewers with their boldness and brilliance.

The western inlet can be seen from street bridges at Cropsey Avenue ( between Bay 54th Street and Hart Place ) and Stillwell Avenue ( between Shore Parkway and Neptune Avenue ), and from the D / N New York City Subway lines several yards east of Stillwell Avenue ( and just north of the Coney Island -- Stillwell Avenue Station ).

While Jasper Francis Cropsey and other artists typically painted bright fall foliage, McEntee often captured the season near its end, with the leaves faded and falling from the trees.

It was found to incorporate designs by many of the leading painters of its day, including Jasper Francis Cropsey, Frederic Edwin Church, and Henry Courtney Selous ( Selous was the in-house painter for the original Barker panorama in London for many years.

Colfax, Cropsey and Cooksville were laid out at the same time.

There were also a handful of stores and the Morris Hotel Cropsey remained a small town.

Cropsey was born on his father Jacob Rezeau Cropsey's farm in Rossville on Staten Island, New York, the oldest of eight children.
