* In the science fiction television series Babylon 5, the character of Michael Garibaldi is a fan of Daffy Duck, and describes " Duck Dodgers " as his " second favorite thing in the universe ".

Friz Freleng used the Jones idea for Daffy in " Show Biz Bugs " ( 1957 ) wherein Daffy's " trained " pigeon act ( they all fly away as soon as Daffy opens their cage ) and complicated tap dance number are answered by nothing but crickets chirping in the audience, whereas Bugs's simple song-and-dance numbers bring wild applause.

Furthermore, when he draws all the water he wants, Daffy then attempts to destroy the well in spite of the vicious pointlessness of the act, forcing Speedy to stop him.

In a cheap hostel on Khao San Road in Bangkok, Richard, a young English traveller, meets a strange Scotsman going by the pseudonym of Daffy Duck who leaves him a hand-drawn map of a supposed hidden beach located in the Gulf of Thailand that is inaccessible to tourists.

When the three travellers finally reach the beach-after bribing a local boat contractor, taking a long swim, trekking the dense jungle, stumbling across a marijuana plantation and avoiding its heavily armed guards, and eventually jumping down a waterfall-they are faced with a tight-knit and largely self-sufficient community which has almost completely shut itself off from civilization and which has developed a sophisticated hierarchy under the quasi-dictatorial rule of a young American woman called Sal and her South African lover, Bugs, who, along with Daffy, discovered the beach and founded the community there in 1989.

Richard comes to appreciate that Daffy killed himself because he could neither endure the slow unravelling of his elitist vision of the beach as the community grew, nor a return to normal life, and that he himself is falling prey to that way of thinking.

Richard also realizes that Daffy gave him the map so other travellers would find the beach.

* Daffy ( Mister Duck )-A Scottish traveller and one of the three original founders of the beach ; appears as a mental apparition in Richard's consciousness in the later parts of the novel after his suicide.

Invited by Daffy to the beach after a robbing incident in Sumatra.

Invited by Daffy to the beach after catching a pickpocket attempting to steal his backpack in Manila.

Later in Robert McKimson's Muscle Tussle ( 1953 ), Daffy Duck's girlfriend appears with him on a visit to the beach.

Richard, Étienne, and Françoise manage to incorporate themselves into the island community and are quickly accepted because they tell the community about Daffy and his death back on the Thai mainland.

Daffy is the sole person in the community completely against his uninvited arrival.

* Dizzy Dean and Daffy Dean-Major League Baseball players and brothers, born in the small community of Lucas, outside of Booneville.

After Cubish's death soon afterward (" Died Laughing ," reports one newspaper ), Daffy inherits the Cubish fortune, under the provision that he will use the money to provide a service to the community and follow Cubish's creed to display honesty in business affairs.

After receiving the map, Richard discovers that Daffy has committed suicide.

Being alone on the mainland of the island since his transfer to Jed's detail, Richard now begins to have hallucinations in which Daffy appears: they talk regularly and begin to patrol the part of the island which Richard refers to as the DMZ together.

Duck Dodgers appears in the 2003 feature Looney Tunes: Back in Action when Daffy notes that the only character that could save the film's proverbial day was Duck Dodgers ; he then realizes that Dodgers is his alter ego.

After his death, the Looney Tunes cartoon Daffy Duck for President, based on the book that Jones had written and using Jones ' style for the characters, originally scheduled to be released in 2000, was released in 2004 as part of disc 3 of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Volume 2 DVD set.

" Shearer said in an interview that one person who " took him under his wing " and was one of his best friends during his early days in show business was voice actor Mel Blanc, who voiced many animated characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Barney Rubble.

The final comedy produced was Flying Saucer Daffy, filmed on December 19 – 20, 1957.

This was followed by the debuts of other memorable Looney Tunes stars such as Daffy Duck ( in 1937 ) and the most famous of the Looney Tunes cast, Bugs Bunny ( in 1940 ).

Daffy Rhapsody was to precede the film Happy Feet Two, until the studio decided to premiere I Tawt I Taw a Putty Tat instead.

Daffy was one of the first of the new " screwball " characters that emerged in the late 1930s to replace traditional everyman characters who were more popular earlier in the decade, such as Mickey Mouse and Popeye.

Daffy was # 14 on TV Guide's list of top 50 best cartoon characters and was featured on one of the issue's four covers as Duck Dodgers with Porky Pig and the Powerpuff Girls ( all of which are Time Warner-owned characters ).

The cartoon is a standard hunter / prey pairing for which Leon Schlesinger's studio was famous, but Daffy ( barely more than an unnamed bit player in this short ) was something new to moviegoers: an assertive, completely unrestrained, combative protagonist.

In 1959, Daffy appeared in " China Jones " ( a parody of a television series of the day, China Smith, starring Dan Duryea ) in which he was an Irish private eye with an Irish accent instead of the usual lisp.

The Warner Bros. studio was entering its twilight years, and even Daffy had to stretch for humor in the period.

The first was released in 1983, Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island ; the second came in 1988, Daffy Duck's Quackbusters, which is considered one of the Looney Tunes best compilation films and featured another new theatrical short, " The Night of the Living Duck ".

It was destroyed by a car wash incident, and Daffy sought to replace it with a yacht by tricking Porky into giving him the expensive loan, but his less-than-stellar boating skills ended that ambition.

Daffy starred in the 3-D short Daffy's Rhapsody with Elmer Fudd that was originally set to premiere before Happy Feet Two but instead it debuted prior to Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

The comic book series was subsequently continued in Gold Key Comics Daffy Duck # 31-127 ( 1962 – 79 ).

It appears in the short Daffy Rhapsody featuring Daffy and Elmer that was shown prior to Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

* In Family Guy, after holding an exploding bomb from Adam West, Meg has Daffy Duck's bill on the wrong side of her head, moves it to its proper position, and then states, “ Of course, you realize this means war !” This scene was supposedly deleted after the contract between MacFarlane and Warner Bros.

* A sound clip of Daffy Duck grunting from one cartoon was reused for Linus Van Pelt fidgeting in anger in Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown ( and Don't Come Back !!

In 1937, Avery pitted Porky against a plucky black duck who soon was christened Daffy and who became the studio's biggest star ( until he himself was replaced by Bugs Bunny ).

Porky had a descendent in Loonatics Unleashed named Pinkster Pig ( who was also voiced by Bob Bergen ), an old friend of Danger Duck ( who was Daffy Duck's Descendant ).

It's worth mentioning, though, that in many of the later DFE cartoons, such as " Feather Finger " and " Daffy's Diner ," Daffy is portrayed as a more sympathetic character rather than the full-blown villain he is in cartoons like " Well Worn Daffy " and " Assault and Peppered.

* Mel Tormé provided Daffy's singing voice in Night of the Living Duck ( one of the new shorts in the compilation feature Daffy Duck's Quackbusters )

It stars Daffy Duck, who is tormented by a seemingly sadistic, initially unseen animator, who constantly changes Daffy's locations, clothing, voice, physical appearance and even shape.

In his autobiography, That's Not All Folks !, voice actor Mel Blanc stated that Sylvester's voice is based on that of Daffy Duck, plus the even more slobbery lisp, and minus the post-production speed-up that was done with Daffy's.

Daffy is relieved that he met Rocky's demand and will be allowed to go free ... until Rocky escorts the duck into a room containing dozens of egg crates and orders him to lay enough to fill them, much to Daffy's despair.

Kate tries to make Bugs ' film more educational and socially relevant, but he refuses to work with her unless Daffy is brought back ; she is ultimately forced to comply to keep her job after Bugs is injured during a routine that required Daffy's presence.

On June 8, 2011, three more shorts were announced: I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat with Sylvester, Tweety, and Granny, which was released with Happy Feet Two ; Daffy's Rhapsody with Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd, which was released with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island ; and an untitled Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner short.

The Gremlin's behavior is possibly an homage to Bob Clampett's version of Daffy Duck ( for example, he is seen in one scene riding an invisible bicycle, one of Daffy's old trademarks, among other acts ).

The blonde duck in this cartoon bears visual similarities to Daffy's girlfriend from Muscle Tussle ( as well as a vague resemblance to the female pigeon Hatta Mari from Plane Daffy, 1944 ) and may represent the " origin " of the Melissa Duck character.

For the most, Daffy's wife, usually referred to as Mrs. Daffy Duck, holds dominance over him in the marriage, forcing him to take an interest in their eggs or ducklings.
