It is perhaps difficult to conceive, but imagine that tonight on London bridge the Teddy boys of the East End will gather to sing Marlowe, Herrick, Shakespeare, and perhaps some lyrics of their own.

* 1888 – The first of 11 unsolved brutal murders of women committed in or near the impoverished Whitechapel district in the East End of London, occurs.

Clement Martyn Doke ( 16 May 1893 in Bristol, United Kingdom – 24 February 1980 in East London, South Africa ) was a South African linguist working mainly on African languages.

Rhyming slang is a form of phrase construction in the English language and is especially prevalent in dialectal English from the East End of London ; hence the alternative name, Cockney rhyming slang ( or CRS ).

Rhyming slang is believed to have originated in the mid-19th century in the East End of London, with several sources suggesting some time in the 1840s.

According to Partridge ( 1972: 12 ), it dates from around 1840 and arose in the East End of London, however John Camden Hotten in his 1859 Dictionary of Modern Slang, Cant and Vulgar Words states that ( English ) rhyming slang originated " about twelve or fifteen years ago " ( i. e. in the 1840s ) with ' chaunters ' and ' patterers ' in the Seven Dials area of London.

The town has strong local travel links as Accrington railway station lies on the East Lancashire Line serving trains running locally and trains running from Blackpool to York.

The town's growth was facilitated by its role as the administrative and commercial centre of German East Africa and industrial expansion resulting from the construction of the Central Railway Line in the early 1900s.

Downtown Kansas City is an area of bounded by the Missouri River to the north, 31st Street to the south, Troost Avenue to the East, and State Line road to the West.

* 1911 – The Kowloon-Canton Railway ( split into MTR East Rail Line and Guangshen Railway now ) commences service between Kowloon and Canton.

There are four main lines running at present: the North South Line, the East West Line, the Circle Line, operated by SMRT Trains ( SMRT Corporation ).

The North East Line operated by SBS Transit.

The Sengkang LRT Line, a 10. 7 km light rail line was opened in 2003 ; a third LRT line, Punggol LRT Line, was opened in 2005 Jan with the East Loop of the system serving the residences in Punggol.

T. O ' Callaghan, an official in the Eastern Sector of the North East Frontier, relocated all these markers to a location slightly south of the McMahon Line, and then visited Rima to confirm with Tibetan officials that there was no Chinese influence in the area.

As a consequence of their non-recognition of the McMahon Line, China's maps showed both the North East Frontier Area ( NEFA ) and Aksai Chin to be Chinese territory.

A variation of the " A Chorus Line " instrumental was used as the basis of Tim Dog's debut single, the Ced Gee-produced " Fuck Compton ", which became a modest hit and is credited with helping to spark the East coast / West coast feud of the mid ' 90s.

It is reached via the Amtrak-owned East River Tunnels ( the only LIRR-used trackage not owned by the LIRR ) from the Main Line in Long Island City.

In the late 2010s, the LIRR intends to start service to Grand Central Terminal via the East Side Access project ; provision was made for this route on the lower level of the 63rd Street Tunnel under the East River, which carries the New York City Subway's IND 63rd Street Line ( train ) on its upper level.

The City Terminal Zone includes portions of the Main Line and Atlantic and Montauk Branches as well as the Amtrak-owned East River Tunnels to Penn Station.

* The Main Line runs from Long Island City east to Greenport ; trains using the Northeast Corridor and the East River Tunnels from New York Penn Station join the line at Sunnyside Yard.

* The Media Line – A non-profit news agency which provides credible, unbiased content, background and context from across the Middle East.

The world ’ s first underwater tunnel was Marc Brunel's Thames Tunnel built in 1843 and now used to carry the East London Line.

The IRT 42nd Street Shuttle runs under 42nd Street between Broadway / Seventh Avenue ( Times Square ) and Park Avenue ( Grand Central ); the IRT Flushing Line begins at 41st Street / Seventh Avenue, runs between 41st and 42nd from Sixth Avenue to Park Avenue, curves onto 42nd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, and continues under the East River to Queens.

Additionally, MTA New York City Transit's M42 bus runs the length of 42nd Street between the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises ferry terminal on the Hudson River and the headquarters of the United Nations on the East River.

* July 24 – Travelling to India, a group of Portuguese explorers sack the city-state of Kilwa in East Africa, killing the king for failing to pay tribute.

Travelling across the River Humber between the historic counties of the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, he posed as a horse trader, and often hunted alongside local gentlemen.

Travelling past Brabourne Lees it is once again joined by the CTRL and the East Stour.
