The European Investment Fund, established in 1994, is a European Union agency for the provision of finance to SMEs ( small and medium-sized enterprises ), headquartered in Luxembourg.

Its shareholders are: the European Investment Bank ( 62 %); the European Communities, represented by the European Commission ( 29 %); and 30 privately owned EU financial institutions ( 9 %).

The deal, set to close September 30, 2009, included 600 million in financing from the European Investment Bank, guaranteed by the Swedish government.

The World Bank, African Development Bank, European Investment Bank, and many other bilateral donors are financing the project.

The European Investment Bank — the financial institution of the European Union — is also located there.

Two European Union institutions are also financing members: the European Community and the European Investment Bank.

The EBRD is not to be confused with the European Investment Bank ( EIB ) which is owned by the EU member states and supports EU policy.

In 2002, Tunisia borrowed € 300 million from the European Investment Bank in 2002 to be used to improve roads in the country including € 120 million towards building a motorway between Tunis and Sfax.

Most of the shares in the Development Bank of Comoros were held by the Comoran government and the central bank ; the rest were held by the European Investment Bank and the Central Bank for Economic Cooperation ( Caisse Centrale de Coopération Économique — CCCE ), a development agency of the French government.

A. R.

Comoros also is a member of the African Union, the Arab League, the European Development Fund, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Indian Ocean Commission, and the African Development Bank.

He then pushed forward the important Socialist figure of Dominique Strauss-Kahn as European nominee to the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ).

It was the largest party in Dáil Éireann at every general election from the 1932 general election until the 2011 general election, when it suffered the worst defeat of a sitting government in the history of the Irish state, a loss described as " historic " in its proportions, where it saw its electoral support base diminished by 75 %, as a reaction to the intervention, and in the running of the Irish economy, of the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank in November 2010.

European Regional Development Fund 2007-2013: Southern Italy is almost all classified under the Regional policy of the European Union | Convergence objective ( GDP per capita less than 75 % of the EU average ).

Party leader John Gormley called publicly in November 2010 for a general election in the state to be fixed by the latter half of January 2011, allowing time for the Oireachtas to pass legislation for European Union and International Monetary Fund financial support for Ireland ; the date of the election was eventually set for March 2011.

Triggered by the collapse of the second largest bank, GDP plunged by almost 18 % in 2009, and the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, and other international donors provided substantial financial assistance to Latvia as part of an agreement to defend the currency's peg to the euro in exchange for the government's commitment to stringent austerity measures.

President Callejas responded to the severe poverty by implementing a specially financed Honduran Social Investment Fund ( Fondo Hondureño de Inversión Social — FHIS ) in 1990.

In November 2010, the EU Parliament passed the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive, which seeks to provide greater monitoring and control of alternative investment fund managers operating in the EU.

The EU's Directive on Alternative Investment Fund Managers ( AIFMD ) was passed by the EU Parliament on November 11, 2010 and is the first EU directive focused on " alternative investment fund managers ", including hedge fund managers.

Under the EU's Alternative Investment Fund Managers directive, offshore hedge funds using prime brokers as depositaries will be required to use EU-registered credit institutions before they can be sold in the EU.

Earlier this year, Wana sold a 31 % stake for € 228m to the partnership of two Kuwaiti companies, mobile operator Zain and Al Ajial Investment Fund Holding, to help finance the roll out of its 15-year 2G GSM network at the end of 2009.

In particular, it will further the Tunisian-Saudi Investment and Development Bank " STUSID Bank " in developing financial co-operation and the contribution of the Saudi Fund for Development ( SFD ) to boost the development process in Tunisia.

Spain set up the Social Security Reserve Fund and France set up the Pensions Reserve Fund ; in Canada the wage-based retirement plan ( CPP ) is funded, with assets managed by the CPP Investment Board while the U. S. Social Security system is funded by investment in special U. S. Treasury Bonds.

Since 2000 the Bank itself became a member of the EIB Group ( including its venture capital arm – the European Investment Fund ).
