From 1952, Philby struggled to find work as a journalist, eventually – in August 1954 – accepting a position with a diplomatic newsletter called the Fleet Street Letter.

Pepys was born in Salisbury Court, Fleet Street, London on 23 February 1633, to John Pepys ( 1601 – 1680 ), a tailor, and Margaret Pepys ( née Kite ; d. 1667 ), daughter of a Whitechapel butcher.

He was later introduced as an antihero of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and its film adaptation of the same name.

In 1890, Yeats co-founded the Rhymers ' Club with Ernest Rhys, a group of London based poets who met regularly in a Fleet Street tavern to recite their verse.
