In addition to tributary relations with the Kushans, the Han Empire received gifts from the Parthian Empire, from a king in modern Burma, from a ruler in Japan, and initiated an unsuccessful mission to Daqin ( Rome ) in 97 CE with Gan Ying as emissary.

Ban Chao also sent an envoy named Gan Ying to Daqin ( Rome ).

China never managed to reach the Roman Empire directly in antiquity, although general Ban Chao sent Gan Ying as an envoy to " Daqin " in 97 AD.

Gan Ying did not reach Daqin, he stopped at the coast of a large sea, because " sailor ( s ) of the Parthian west border " told him that the voyage to cross the sea might take a long time and be dangerous.

Gan Ying left a detailed account of the Roman Empire, but it is generally considered to have been based on second hand information:

In 97 the Chinese general Ban Chao dispatched an envoy to Rome in the person of Gan Ying.

He also sent his emissary Gan Ying even further in order to reach Rome ( Daqin ).

Gan Ying perhaps made it as far as the Black Sea and Roman-era Syria, but turned back.

Gan Ying (; Hanyu Pinyin: Gān Yīng ), was a Chinese military ambassador who was sent on a mission to Rome in 97 CE by the Chinese general Ban Chao.

Although Gan Ying never reached Rome, only travelling to as far as the " western sea " which either refers to the Black Sea or the Parthian coast of the Persian Gulf, he is, at least in the historical records, the Chinese who went the furthest west during antiquity, and he gathered what information he could.

:" In the ninth year CE, Ban Chao sent his Subordinate Gan Ying, who probed as far as the Western Sea, which is either the Persian Gulf or the Black Sea.

:" In the ninth Yongyuan year, during the reign of Emperor He, Protector General Ban Chao sent Gan Ying to Da Qin Roman Empire.

Gan Ying also gave the following somewhat fanciful description of Roman customs and natural products undoubtedly based on what he was told by sailors in Persian Gulf ports :< p >" Their kings are not permanent.

Gan Ying travelled about the time that the Emperor Nerva adopted Trajan as his successor, but neither of them abdicated for bad omens ; the " kings " according to him resemble the Sages of legendary Chinese antiquity more than any Roman institution.

Yuzhang commandery ( 豫章, Gan: Ì-zong ) was established in Jiangxi at the beginning of the Han Dynasty, possibly before the death of Xiang Yu in 202 BC, and it's also the very first commandery set up by Chinese dynasty in Jiangxi.

Gan Ying is thought to have left an account of the Roman Empire ( Daqin in Chinese ) which relied on secondary sources-likely sailors in the ports which he visited.

In the early 1960s, the UK was withdrawing its military presence from the Indian Ocean area, not including the base at RAF Gan to the north of Diego Garcia in the Maldives ( which remained open until 1976 ), and agreed to permit the US to establish a Naval Communication Station on one of its island territories there.

Regarding the importance of Ra ` aya Meheimna, Rabbi Moshe Cordovero said, " Know that this book, which is called ` Ra ` aya Meheimna, which Rashbi made with the tzadikim who are in Gan Eden, was a repair of the Shekhinah, and an aid and support for it in the exile, for there is no aid or support for the Shekhinah besides the secrets of the Torah ... And everything that he says here of the secrets and the concepts — it is all with the intention of unifying the Shekhinah and aiding it during the exile.

According to Ramaz, it is fit to be called Midrash haNe ' elam because " its topic is mostly the neshamah ( an upper level of soul ), the source of which is in Beri ' ah, which is the place of the upper Gan Eden ; and it is written in the Pardes that drash is in Beri ' ah ... and the revealed midrash is the secret of externality, and Midrash haNe ' elam is the secret of internality, which is the neshamah.

Rounding off his 2011 World Tour, which included United States, England, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany, Simon appeared at Ramat Gan Stadium in Israel in July 2011, making his first concert appearance in Israel since 1983.
