Research at Moscow Aviation Institute, RKK Energiya, National Aerospace University, Kharkiv Aviation Institute University of Stuttgart, ISAS, Centrospazio, Alta S. p. A., Osaka University, University of Southern California, Princeton University's Electric Propulsion and Plasma Dynamics Lab ( EPPDyL ) ( where MPD thruster research has continued uninterrupted since 1967 ), and NASA centers ( Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Glenn Research Center ), has resolved many problems related to the performance, stability and lifetime of MPD thrusters.

Glenn was a combat aviator in the Marine Corps and one of the Mercury Seven, who were the elite U. S. military test pilots selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration ( NASA ) to operate the experimental Mercury spacecraft and become the first American astronauts.

On February 23, 1962, President Kennedy escorted him in a parade to Hangar S at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, where he awarded Glenn with the NASA service medal.

In 1986, Glenn defeated challenger U. S. Representative Tom Kindness.

Glenn was one of the five U. S. senators caught up in the Lincoln Savings and Keating Five Scandal after accepting a $ 200, 000 contribution from Charles Keating.

Once Republicans regained control of the Senate, Glenn also served as the ranking minority member on a special Senate investigative committee chaired by Tennessee senator Fred Dalton Thompson that looked into illegal foreign donations by China to U. S. political campaigns for the 1996 election.

Heuer became the first Swiss watch in space thanks to a Heuer Stopwatch, worn by John Glenn in 1962 when he piloted the Friendship 7 on the first manned U. S. orbital mission.

While he was traveling to entertain U. S. troops in France during World War II, Glenn Miller disappeared in bad weather over the English Channel.

In 1939, TIME magazine noted: " Of the twelve to 24 discs in each of today's 300, 000 U. S. jukeboxes, from two to six are usually Glenn Miller's.

In 1908 U. S. inventor, businessman and engine builder Glenn Curtiss flew an aileron-controlled aircraft, with wingtip ailerons of a similar form to what the contemporaty Bleriot VIII used, and the famous 1911-vintage Curtiss Model D pusher biplane had interplane ailerons of a similar nature to those on the final form of the Santos = Dumont 14-bis.
