Gohan, known as in the Japanese version, is a character from the Dragon Ball series created by Akira Toriyama as a protagonist for the media franchise, which consists of a series of manga, anime, soundtracks, movies, television specials, video games, and other collectibles.

At first, because of his mother's protectiveness, Gohan starts out quite different than his father, as he is at the start of his appearance quite polite, timid and easily scared.

Initially, Gohan is illustrated garbed in a Hanfu-like surcoat with the Chinese character, fixed on the front and the four-star Dragon Ball fitted on top of his hat.

Normally thereafter, Gohan is drawn with a keikogi modeled after Piccolo's own, with the anime recoloring his wristbands from blue to red and, during the Cell Games tournament, his obi from red to blue, despite reverting to the original colors for the former.

On Namek, Gohan is portrayed in battle armor worn by Frieza's henchmen, having been given it by Vegeta in preparation for their encounter with Frieza.

Prior to his second fight with Majin Buu, Gohan asks Kibito for an outfit resembling his father's, and is then drawn in a keikogi identical to Goku's.

Premiering in the manga chapter # 196 first published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on October 24, 1988, Gohan is introduced as the four-year-old son of the series ' main protagonist, Goku.

Piccolo, startled by this, then takes Gohan away following the fight and Goku's death, and trains him for the upcoming battle against the two other Saiyans, Vegeta and Nappa, though Piccolo is aware that training the son of his greatest enemy will be a risk.

Gohan is outraged by the killing of his good friend Dende, who is a Namekian, and unleashes all of his power against Frieza.

Later, after Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and defeats Frieza, Gohan is shown to settle back into school life on Earth, waiting for Goku to return home from Namek.

After Garlic Jr. escaped from the Dead Zone and enslaved most of humanity with the Black Water Mist, Gohan, who was unaffected due to hiding in a cave, is forced to travel to the lookout point to save his mother and friends, together with Krillin and Piccolo.

Following the appearance of Cell, Gohan is taken to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber ( Room Of Spirit ) and trained by Goku.

Following Gohan's emergence from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Gohan is depicted as a Super Saiyan, with Piccolo shown thinking to himself that he barely recognized him before granting Gohan's request to give him an outfit resembling his own. After Goku surrenders from his match with Cell, he recommends Gohan to be Cell's next opponent.

Gohan matches Cell's powers with his Super Saiyan form but is reluctant to unleash his full power.

Gohan, during the consequent peace that follows, is said to have continued his studies, and later, a | archivedate = 2008-04-10

" As well as opinions on his appearance: " Little Gohan is abruptly in the icy metallic grip of one of his arch-nemeses, Frieza, a silvery androgynous giant who looks like a cross between the monster in Alien and Batman's Mr. Freeze.

Piccolo is nearly killed by Cell, and he is forced to participate in a Martial Arts Tournament created by Cell called the Cell Games, where he fights one of the seven Cell Juniors that are created by Cell, who are later destroyed by Gohan.

Piccolo trains the boys in fighting the evil creature Majin Buu, but is later absorbed by Buu along with Gotenks and Gohan and incorporated into his being.

While outmatched at first, after a reunion with his friends Gohan eventually manages to overcome and send Garlic Jr. back to the Dead Zone by blowing up the Makyo Star that was powering the villain.

This would be the first time Gohan had saved the world without his father's help.

He also trains Goku's first child Gohan, and they form a strong bond.

One of Piccolo's less frequently used techniques is the ability to fire energy rays from his eyes ( similar to " heat vision "), which he first uses against Krillin's energy attack during their match in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, then later against Goku in the finals, and again when he trains Gohan in the Saiyan Saga.

Being the son of Goku, Gohan inherited great powers of his own, however due to his peaceful nature he only releases them when anger grows inside of him during a battle.

Piccolo remains amazed with the powers from Goku's son, Gohan, and trains him to fight against the two Saiyans who will invade Earth.

Things looking extremely difficult for Earth's hero, Goku's son, Gohan, becomes enraged witnessing his father and friends in danger and releases his latent energy, blasting Garlic Jr. into his own vortex to be trapped for an eternity.

Remarkably, in the end of it all, Gohan doesn't remember a thing of what happened, instead believing that his father defeated Garlic Jr., and with amazement, Goku figures his son is no ordinary boy, but one with a great hidden potential.

* In the 1990 movie Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might, Chi-Chi packs for her son Gohan a tape recorder so he can learn while he sleeps on a camping trip.

With the ending of the Cell arc, Gohan was meant to replace his father as the main protagonist ; Toriyama later decided against it, though.

Gohan then commits himself to training with Goku and Piccolo until the arrival of the androids.

Goku then reveals his intentions: to train Gohan to become a Super Saiyan, and to have Gohan surpass him in strength.

After being constantly tormented by Cell, and after seeing Cell killed Android # 16, an enemy-turned-friend, Gohan, infuriated, ascends to Super Saiyan 2, and later defeats Cell in a Kamehameha struggle, counseled by Goku from the afterlife and winning with the assistance of Vegeta.

He then trains with Goku and Gohan for three years to prepare for a battle against two powerful androids created by the Red Ribbon Army's Dr. Gero to kill Goku.

Several years later, Krillin confronts the Saiyan invaders Vegeta and Nappa along with his friends and is one of the few survivors from the fight, aside from Goku and Gohan.

After Krillin and Gohan collect the seven Dragon Balls, Frieza battles them until Goku appears.

Goku World, Krillin along with Goku, Trunks, Bulma, and Gohan travels back in time to examine event in the past.

Where he and Gohan attempt to save visitors of at Fuji Television's orb section from drowning, while Goku battles Frieza.

Goku then proceeds to try to find Gohan when he is attacked by the villain's gang, whilst Kami faces Garlic Jr.

Another unusual appearance is in the Robot Chicken Christmas Special, during which, in a Dragon Ball Z parody sketch, she gains powers from the North Pole's radiation, and becomes a giant monster that Goku, Gohan, and Rudolph must destroy.

Goku, Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, Oolong, Yajirobe and Master Roshi arrive and encounter an army of strange, large, silent robots.

Chi-Chi along with her father, Ox King, and Gohan are attacked by an unknown group of warriors.

Cutting to the present day, Goku is shopping with Gohan and Chi-Chi, while Krillin, Master Roshi, Oolong and Future Trunks wait for a beauty pageant.

As Goku, Chi-Chi, Gohan and the gang eat in the restaurant on the shopping centre's top floor, two humanoid beings enter the city and begin causing mayhem.
