The Gnostic Gospel of Philip names Mary Magdalene as Jesus ' companion.

It is usually dated to about the same period as that of the Gospel of Philip.

In a manner very similar to, the Gospel of Philip presents Mary Magdalene among Jesus ' female entourage, adding that she was his koinônos, a Greek word variously translated in contemporary versions as partner, associate, comrade, companion.

Others ' irritation from the love and affection presented by Jesus to Mary Magdalene is claimed in the apocryphal Gospel of Philip.

The Gospel of Philip depicts Mary as Jesus ' Koinōnos ( κοινωνός ), a Greek term indicating a " close friend " or " companion ".

In the Gospel of John, Nathanael is introduced as a friend of Philip.

The Gospel of Philip states ; " The Chrism is superior to baptism, for it is from the word " Chrism " that we have been called " Christians ", certainly not because of the word " baptism.

The Gospel of Thomas was found among a collection of fifty-two writings that included, in addition to an excerpt from Plato's Republic, gospels claiming to have been written by Jesus's disciple Philip.

One of the Gnostic texts found in the Nag Hammadi library in 1945 has been given the modern title " Gospel of Philip ", though this text makes no claim to have been written by Philip.

Of the four Gospels, Philip figures most prominently in the Gospel of John.

Herod was the first husband of Herodias, and because the Gospel of Mark states that Herodias was married to Philip, some scholars have argued that his name was actually Herod Philip.

Many scholars dispute this, however, and believe the Gospel writer was in error, a suggestion supported by the fact that the later Gospel of Luke drops the name Philip.

The Ecclesia Gnostica recognizes five initiatory sacraments as listed in the Gospel of Philip: Baptism, Chrism or Confirmation, Eucharist, Redemption ( sacrament ) and Bride-Chamber, with the additional two sustaining sacraments of Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick.

He has been a friend and collaborator to such eminent intellectuals as Pier Paolo Pasolini ( in whose The Gospel According to St. Matthew he played the part of Philip ), Italo Calvino ( with whom he collaborated, for a short while, as counsellor of the publishing house Einaudi and developed plans for a journal ), Ingeborg Bachmann, Pierre Klossowski, Guy Debord, Jean-Luc Nancy, Jacques Derrida, Antonio Negri, Jean-François Lyotard and others.

Scholars Philip Jenkins and Robert M. Price noticed parallels between The Secret Gospel of Mark and a novel by James Hunter published in 1940 entitled The Mystery of Mar Saba.

The Gospel of Philip is one of the Gnostic Gospels, a text of New Testament apocrypha, dating back to around the third century but lost to modern researchers until an Egyptian peasant rediscovered it by accident, buried in a cave near Nag Hammadi, in 1945.

John Robinson in " Redating the New Testament " ( 1976 ) has heavily criticised Charles ' position and accepted apostolic authorship, dating John's Gospel before the Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD.

The Gospel Book manuscript dating from the 9th century contains the Latin text of the four Gospels, along with prefatory material and canon tables – an interesting admixture of traditions.

Miroslav's Gospel is one of the earliest works of Serbian literature dating from between 1180 and 1191 and one of the most important works of the medieval period.

According to the Gospel of Matthew, at the death of Jesus tombs were opened, and at his resurrection many saints who had died emerged from their tombs and went into " the holy city ", presumably New Jerusalem.
