Duck Dodgers manages to save them ( more through accident than skill ) before giving the uniform back to Hal Jordan and being stranded in Sinestro's hideout.

In order to defeat it, Hal releases Parallax from its prison, intending to let it possess him again.

Although Hal convinces the Guardians that giving into fear to stop fear will not solve anything, at the end of the film, after Parallax's defeat by Hal Jordan's hands with the Corps ' green ring, Sinestro is shown putting on the yellow ring, hinting he has fallen from grace.

For a brief period, Rayner achieved godhood as Ion after absorbing the energy Hal Jordan had left in Earth's Sun during " The Final Night " storyline, which had merged and grown with energies released after Oblivion's defeat.

After the Green Lantern Corps defeat the Cyborg Superman, the Manhunters immediately deactivate, with Hal able to take one of the robots ' skulls to absorbs Sinestro's power.

On a smaller scale, the sun's temporary ' demise ' allowed the powerful being known as Traitor ( an old foe of Abin Sur and Hal Jordan who ' fed ' on the energy of dying stars, his close proximity to the Sun blocking his access to the energy he needed when he was left trapped in its orbit after a battle with Hal and Ray Palmer ) to escape the sun's orbit and regain his old power, before Kyle Rayner managed to defeat him once again.

An indirect homage is paid to Hal's defeat of the Sun-Eater in the recent Green Lantern film, with Hal luring Parallax — here a completely independent entity created when a Guardian was exposed to the yellow fear energy — into the sun's gravitational pull, allowing Parallax to be incinerated while Hal's smaller size allowed him to escape ; when confronting Parallax as it approaches the sun, Hal assumes a pose similar to the stance he used when absorbing the Sun-Eater.

Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman, who survived the anti-hero sentiment of the Cold War, as well as eager newcomers like test pilot Hal Jordan and scientists Barry Allen and Ray Palmer, team up to defeat a threatening alien presence on Earth.

Hal Jordan, thankful for the assistance went on to defeat the mad guardian with the help of John Stewart, Guy Gardner and the guardians of the universe.

Since Sinestro harbored hatred for Hal, Parallax chose Jordan as its tool to free itself.

Hal then tries to free Kyle by reminding him of how fearless his mother was even on her deathbed.

Once summoned, Hal allows Sinestro to release Parallax and, once it's free, provokes it into merging with him.

While Hal and Guy go to remove Parallax from the Central Power Battery, John and Kyle attempt to free Mogo from Krona's control.

Hal Jordan is able to free this team from the mind-control

It is unknown how long they remained captive until Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan, now free of the Parallax influence, discovered him and his fellow Lanterns.

The Corps is an organization of 7200 + Green Lanterns ( the old Corps was composed of 3600 ) who are chosen by the ring for being able to overcome great fear, with two assigned to each sector of space that require the protection of more than one Green Lantern ( Earth, home to Hal Jordan and John Stewart, is in Sector 2814 ).

While the primary Lanterns of Sector 2814 are Hal Jordan and John Stewart, Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner call Earth home, but are stationed on Oa, first as teachers, and then specially assigned to cases that are too difficult for the average lantern.

With the yellow impurity returned to the green light, all of the Green Lanterns even the experienced wielders, with the apparent exception of Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Kilowog and Guy Gardner, are placed under Krona's control, the Alpha Lanterns are affected by the yellow impurity which made them enter into some kind of hibernation.
