Throughout the late nineties he continued performing solo stand-up ( something that has always been a mainstay of his career – even whilst in the double act with Herring ) and has collaborated with, amongst others, Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh.

In recent years, Red Herring has been focused in actively promoting the events and awards for new innovative startups, venture capital scene and these events are branded as Red Herring Global 100, Red Herring Europe 100, Red Herring Asia 100.

There is a red ring around the eye like in the Lesser Black-backed Gull but unlike in the Herring Gull which has a dark yellow ring.

The Media Lab has been widely popularized since the 1990s by business and technology publications such as Wired and Red Herring for a series of practical inventions in the fields of wireless networks, field sensing, web browsers and the World Wide Web.

Like many gulls, the Herring Gull has a brightly coloured bill, yellow with a red spot on the lower mandible near the tip.

A blog posted July 30, 2008 on the Pilot Speed MySpace stated that the band is currently in the process of recording their next album with producer Dennis Herring, who has previously worked with Modest Mouse.

The island also has significant breeding colonies of Lesser Black-backed Gull ( Larus fuscus ), Herring Gull ( Larus argentatus ) and Great Black-backed Gull ( Larus marinus ).

Recently the organisation has been running a successful comedy night on the 2nd Thursday of each month in London's Cross Kings basement rooms, guest acts have included Mark Thomas, Josie Long, Rob Newman, Robin Ince and Simon Munnery as well as live podcasts from established acts such as Richard Herring and Andrew Collins and legendary punk filmmaker Don Letts.

The work has been a collaboration among members of The Assonet Band of Wampanoag, The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah and the Herring Pond Band of Wampanoag.

He often collaborates with Armando Iannucci, Chris Morris and Steve Coogan and has worked with Stewart Lee and Richard Herring.

The Herring Gull, which lives primarily in Great Britain, can hybridize with the American Herring Gull ( living in North America ), which can also interbreed with the Vega or East Siberian Herring Gull, the western subspecies of which, Birula's Gull, can hybridize with Heuglin's gull, which in turn can interbreed with the Siberian Lesser Black-backed Gull ( all four of these live across the north of Siberia ).

There are also several small ponds and rivers, all of which ( except the Herring River, which feeds directly into the Canal ) feed into Buzzards Bay.

Adults are 40 – 46 cm long, obviously smaller than the Herring Gull, and slightly smaller than the Ring-billed Gull, also differing from this in its shorter, more tapered bill with a more greenish shade of yellow, as well as being unmarked during the breeding season.

European Herring Gulls are also abundant around inland rubbish dumps, and some have even adapted to life in inland cities.

At tern colonies, American Herring Gulls occasionally also attack nestling and fledging terns but in a great majority of cases were immediately pirated of their catch by Great Black-backs.
