In 1914, Whipple was appointed Professor of Research Medicine and Director of the Hooper Foundation for Medical Research at the University of California Medical School.

This was exemplified in the person of George Hooper, the Bishop of Bath and Wells, whom Busby described as " the best scholar, the finest gentleman and will make the completest bishop that ever was educated at Westminster School ".

A nationally recognized " state-of-the-art " school when it was built, Hooper School supplanted the railroad depot as the center of the community.

( Graduates of Hooper School who went on to what was then called " secondary " education attended Union-Endicott High School until the opening of Maine-Endwell Central High School in 1961 ).

This school is now the center of the community, inheriting its role from Hooper School and the original Hooper railroad depot.

Hooper ’ s father had hoped that Hooper would follow in his footsteps as an Episcopal minister, and at the age of seven placed Hooper in Boston Latin School headed by Mr. John Lovell, a highly distinguished educator in Massachusetts.

The school, modeled on Yates ' own experiences as an adolescent at Avon Old Farms School, is called Dorset Academy, a small private institution dependent on its now senile founder, a wealthy older woman named Abigail Church Hooper, a thinly-veiled reference to Avon Old Farms founder Theodate Pope Riddle.

The Ben W. Hooper Vocational School at 210 Hedrick Drive in Newport, Tennessee, is named in his honor.

William Hooper Councill ( 1848 – 1909 ) was a former slave and the first president of Huntsville Normal School, which is today Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University in Huntsville, Alabama.

The area was best known from the 1850s to the early 1900s for the Carmel Grove Campgrounds located about half a mile north of the depot on the east side of Hooper Road, near the intersection of what is now Country Club Road.

The cities of Clinton and Hooper are located to the north, Clearfield city is located to the east, and the city of Syracuse is located to the south.
