Today, use Interstate 80 to connect from University Avenue down to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge ( opened in 1936 ) to cross the bay into San Francisco, then take the Embarcadero from the Bay Bridge northwestward along the waterfront to connect to the Hyde Street Pier in Fisherman's Wharf.

It then narrows to a four-lane divided strip which lasts until it intersects St. Andrews Rd, just north of the Hyde Park / Poughkeepsie town line where it returns to two-lane status as it goes through Hyde Park and past its historic sites.

The M4 motorway is 0. 5 miles north ; its nearest junction is J3, accessed from Hyde Lane or Southall Lane, crossing over the M4 motorway into North Hyde and then turning left ( west ) to reach the A312, The Parkway, north of the junction.

The parish continued west of Mayfair into Hyde Park and then south to include Belgravia and other areas.

The Queen Mother, Henrietta Maria, briefly regained the castle, with the earls of Monmouth acting as stewards once again, but after her death Charles II gave the castle to Sir Edward Hyde, whom he created Baron Hyde of Hindon and Earl of Clarendon.

Sir Thomas Foot, Lord Mayor of London, who used Hyde House in High Street as his seat in the 17th century.

The Battle of Copenhagen () was an engagement which saw a British fleet under the command of Admiral Sir Hyde Parker fight and strategically defeat a Danish-Norwegian fleet anchored just off Copenhagen on 2 April 1801.

He famously is reputed to have disobeyed Sir Hyde Parker's order to withdraw by holding the telescope to his blind eye to look at the signals from Parker.

In the end Nelson was able to persuade Sir Hyde to attack the Danish fleet currently concentrated off Copenhagen.

In the film Cromwell, Clarendon ( called only Sir Edward Hyde in the movie ), is portrayed by Nigel Stock as a sympathetic, conflicted man torn between Parliament and the King.

The series portrayed Clarendon ( referred to as ' Sir Edward Hyde ' throughout ) as acting in a paternalistic fashion towards Charles II, something the King comes to dislike.

Berkeley himself paid court to Anne Villiers, Countess of Morton, widowed in 1651 ; she turned him down, perhaps on advice from Sir Edward Hyde.

To this period may be attributed his close friendships with Sir John Suckling, Ben Jonson and Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon ; the latter described Carew as " a person of pleasant and facetious wit.
