Aga Khan I (; or, less commonly but more correctly (; ), was the title accorded to Hasan Ali Shah (; ; 1804 in Kohak, Iran – 1881 in Bombay, India ), the governor of Kirman, 46th Imam of the Nizari Ismaili Muslims, and prominent Muslim leader in Iran and later in the Indian Subcontinent.

" Ever since the time of my ancestor Ali, the first Imam, that is to say over a period of thirteen hundred years, it has always been the tradition of our family that each Imam chooses his successor at his absolute and unfettered discretion from amongst any of his descendants, whether they be sons or remote male issue and in these circumstances and in view of the fundamentally altered conditions in the world in very recent years due to the great changes which have taken place including the discoveries of atomic science, I am convinced that it is in the best interest of the Shia Muslim Ismailia Community that I should be succeeded by a young man who has been brought up and developed during recent years and in the midst of the new age and who brings a new outlook on life to his office as Imam.

Hu Songshan, a Muslim Imam, backed Chiang Kai-shek's regime and gave prayers for his government.

Collections such as Imam al-Nawawi's Kitab al-adhkar and Shams al-Din al-Jazari's al-Hisn al-Hasin exemplify this literary trend and gained significant currency among Muslim devotees keen to learn how Muhammad supplicated to God.

Imam Jafar al Sadiq famously narrated how the title Siddiq was given to Abu Bakr from Muhammad.

It has also been narrated from Ja ‘ far as-Sādiq, the 6th Imām, that Imām ‘ Alī Mosque is the third of five holy places: Makkah, Madīnah, Imām ‘ Alī Mosque in Najaf, Imam Husayn Shrine in Karbalā, and the Shrine for Fātimah-daughter of Mūsā al-Kādhim in Qom.

* Imam Ali has narrated from Mohammad that one who memorizes and preserves forty hadith relating to their religious needs shall be raised by Allah as a learned scholar on the Day of Resurrection.

This is the view of Imam Abu Haneefah, and was also narrated from Imam Ahmad.

Ibn al-Jawzi states that Imam Ahmad had 414 Hadith masters whom he narrated from.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir narrated: " The Holy Prophet put his sacred hand on Husayn bin Ali's back and said: ' O Husayn, it will not be long until a man will be born among your descendants.

The prophet Muhammad prophesied his death, as narrated by Imam Husayn:

Jabir narrated the story to the companions, they all attested in unison of the Imamat of the Fifth Imam and also the names of the other Seven Imams in his line up to the Twelfth Imam.

In addition to narrating hadith, he narrated saying from Imam Ali, Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, Imam Ja ' far al-Sadiq, Imam Musa al-Kadhim, and Imam Ali ar-Ridha.

Among the strongest transmitted proofs about the life of Khiḍr are two reports, one narrated by Imam Ahmad in Al-Zuhd whereby Muhammad is said to have stated that Elijah and Khidr meet every year and spend the month of Ramadan in Jerusalem and the other narrated by Ya ' qub ibn Sufyan from Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz whereby a man he was seen walking with was actually Khiḍr.

According to Ibn Rajab's Commentary on Imam Nawawi's Forty Hadith: Hadith # 1, actions are but by intentions: "' Umar b. al-Khattab narrated that the Prophet ( S ) said: Deeds are result only of the intentions the actor, and an individual is only according to that which he intends.

41 ) Imam Muslim writes that Ubayy bin Ka ‘ b narrated that one day, the Prophet asked “ O Ubayy!

The Imam ( from 11 to 21 ) are the same imam which are narrated in the history of Fatimids.

It is also narrated that Imam Tahawi personally narrated from this Imam.

Very few scholars outside of mainstream Islam reject all the quotes ( Hadith ) attributed to Prophet Muhammad that mention the second return of Jesus, the Dajjal and Imam Mahdi, believing that they have no Qur ' anic basis.

Various forms of self-denial or voluntary suffering ( commonly referred to as Ascetism ) are practiced in various ways by members of many religions, including Sufism, and Shi ' a Islam which commemorates the death of Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, in the 7th century battle of Kerbala.

Although Elwell-Sutton accepted that the family were Sayyids descended from the seventh Imam Musa al-Kadhim, the great-greatgrandson of Hussein ibn Ali, who was the younger son of the marriage of Fatimah ( the daughter of the Prophet ) and Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib, he considered this an " undistinguished lineage " with no special sanctity because " Sayyids proliferate throughout the Islamic world, in all walks of society and on both sides of every religious and political fence.

Similar poems written by Shawqi were subsequently composed by Sombati and sung by Umm Kulthum, including " Woulida el Houda " (" The Prophet is Born "; 1949 ), in which she raised eyebrows of royalists by singing a verse that describes the Prophet Mohammad as " the Imam of Socialists ".

The Aga Khan IV is the 49th Nizari Ismaili Imam and claims to be a hereditary descendant of Ali, a cousin of the Prophet Muhamad, and his wife Fatimah, the Prophet Muhammad's first daughter.

In Al-Muwatta, Imam Malik ibn Anas says: " It reached me that the Prophet said: '( Try to ) keep to the straight path although you won't be able to do so completely ; and know that the best of your deeds is salah, and only a ( true ) believer preserves his wudhu.

Al-Junaydi, impressed and astounded by the young boy, concluded that it could only be by divine causes that the Imam could be so knowledgeable, and in doing so he dropped what animosity he had held towards the family of the Prophet.

Imam al-Hadi understood the importance of the teachings of the Prophet, and because of this he dedicated his time to obtaining them so that people could find guidance with regards to morals, disciplines, intellectual issues, and social issues.

Hasan al-Askari, whose ancestor was the Prophet of Islam Muhammad, was born in Medina. His father was Imam Ali al-Hadi ( a. s .), the tenth Imam of the Shia.

People with the surname Zaidi, are the direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad's great-grandson Imam Zain-ul-Abideen whose real name was Ali ibn Husayn through his son Zayd ibn Ali.

The Aga Khan claims to be the direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad through the Prophet's cousin and son-in-law, Ali, considered the first Imam in Shia Islam, and Ali's wife Fatima az-Zahra, the Prophet ’ s daughter from his first marriage.
