Antoine de Bourbon, Duke of Vendôme ( 22 April 1518 – 17 November 1562 ) was head of the House of Bourbon from 1537 to 1562, and jure uxoris King of Navarre from 1555 to 1562.

He was born at La Fère, Picardie, France, the second son of Charles de Bourbon, Duke of Vendôme ( 1489 – 1537 ), and his wife, Françoise of Alençon ( d. 1550 ).

When in 1476 Duke Henry XI of Głogów died without issue, fights over his succession broke out between Duke Jan II the Mad of Żagań and the Brandenburg Elector Albert III Achilles of Hohenzollern, who was able to acquire the northern part of the duchy with the towns of Krosno Odrzańskie and Sulechów, which were finally incorporated into the Neumark district of Brandenburg in 1537.

In 1532 another John Sutton ( the seventh in the Dynasty named John ) inherited the castle but after having money problems was ousted by a relative, John Dudley, later Duke of Northumberland, in 1537.

After the murder of Duke Alessandro in 1537, Guicciardini allied himself with Cosimo de ' Medici, who was just seventeen years old at the time and new to the Florentine political system.

Therefore, the heir male of the Bourbon family belonged to the House of Bourbon-La Marche from 1527 onwards, in the person of Charles de Bourbon, Duke of Vendôme until he died in 1537.

Albert Castellani in 1537 published a Sacerdotale of this kind ; in 1579 at Venice another version appeared, arranged by Grancesco Samarino, Canon of the Lateran ; it was re-edited in 1583 by Angelo Rocca.

Problems began when King Frederick II of Prussia violated the Pragmatic Sanction and invaded Silesia on 16 December 1740, using the Treaty of Brieg of 1537 under which the Hohenzollerns of Brandenburg were to inherit the Duchy of Brieg as a pretext.

Although Prussia and Austria had been allies in the War of Polish Succession, concluded only two years before, when the Holy Roman Emperor died, distracting the Habsburg Monarchy to the southeast, Frederick opportunistically invaded and annexed Silesia, using a questionable interpretation of a treaty ( 1537 ) between the Hohenzollerns and the Piasts of Brieg as pretext.

Denmark became officially Lutheran on 30 October 1536 by decree of King Christian III, and in 1537 the reconstituted State Council approved the Lutheran Ordinances which was worked out by Danish theologians and Johannes Bugenhagen, based on Luther's Augsburg Confession and Luther's Little Catechism.

Johannes Praetorius ( 1537 – 1616 ), who learned of Osiander's authorship from Rheticus during a visit to him in Kraków, wrote Osiander's name in the margin of the foreword in his copy of De revolutionibus.

Raku means " enjoyment ", " comfort " or " ease " and is derived from Jurakudai, the name of a palace, in Kyoto, that was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi ( 1537 – 1598 ), who was the leading warrior statesman of the time.

Thomas Cranmer headed the committee that authored the Bishop's Book. The Institution of the Christian Man ( also called The Bishops ' Book ), published in 1537, was written by a committee of forty-six divines and bishops headed by Thomas Cranmer.

The Hagakure contains many of the sayings of Sengoku-period retainer Nabeshima Naoshige ( 1537 – 1619 ) regarding Bushidō related philosophy early in the 18th century by Yamamoto Tsunetomo ( 1659 – 1719 ), a former retainer to Naoshige's grandson, Nabeshima Mitsushige.

He wrote to James V from Lyon on 22 October 1537 that Mary was " stark ( strong ), well-complexioned, and fit to travel.

He was the son of Margaretha Hoefnagel and the wealthy merchant Lodewijk Blommaert ( 1537 – 1591 ), who in 1581 was schepen of Antwerp and in 1583 captain at Fort Lillo on the eastern border of the Scheldt.

Vermigli ( Peter Martyr ) and Marcantonio Flaminio were leading spirits in his coterie, which included the marchioness of Pescara Vittoria Colonna, ( April 1490-a widower since 1525-25 February 1547, aged 57 ), since 1537, and her younger widower sister-in-law, Giulia Gonzaga, ( 1513-marries 1526, aged 13-a widower since 1529, aged 16-16 April 1566, aged 53 ).

It built itself a flagship town hall ( built 1526 – 1537 ), which we can still admire today, and the St-Walpurga church.

He may also have printed the Matthew Bible of 1537 ( Herbert # 34 ), the combined work of William Tyndale, Myles Coverdale and John Rogers.

His friends again came to his aid, enabled him to study at Basel ( 1536 ), and in 1537 obtained for him the professorship of Greek at the newly founded academy of Lausanne ( then belonging to Berne ).
