The Fudge Family in Paris is a 1818 epistolary verse novel by Thomas Moore.

As Secretary of State, he negotiated the Adams – Onís Treaty ( which acquired Florida for the United States ), the Treaty of 1818, and wrote the Monroe Doctrine.

Zachris Topelius (; 14 January 1818 – 12 March 1898 ) was a Swedish-speaking Finnish author, journalist, historian, and rector of the University of Helsinki who wrote novels related to Finnish history in Swedish.

In 1818 he was again in Copenhagen, and wrote the idyll of Den lille Hyrdedreng and the Eddaic cycle called Nordens Guder.

Robert Tannahill wrote the words in 1805 and James Barr composed the music in 1818.

Some of Young's conclusions appeared in the famous article " Egypt " he wrote for the 1818 edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica.

The German political theorist and sociologist Karl Marx ( 1818 – 1883 ) was the primary founder of Marxism, although he himself wrote little about the nature of the dictatorship of the proletariat, with his published works instead largely focusing on analysing and criticising capitalist society.

In 1818 Percy Bysshe Shelley wrote to Thomas Love Peacock: " This lake exceeds anything I ever beheld in beauty, with the exception of the arbutus islands of Killarney.

Brown was influenced by these writers and in turn exerted an influence on them and their younger studiers, for example in Godwin's later novels, or in the work of Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Shelley, who reread Brown as she wrote her novels Frankenstein ; or, The Modern Prometheus ( 1818 ) and The Last Man ( 1826 ).

Coleridge was offered the role of editor ; he wrote the Introduction, which appeared in January 1818, brought out to compete with the fifth edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica which had appeared in 1817 in 20 volumes.

In 1818 Bowdler published an enlarged edition of The Family Shakspeare, which had considerable success.

Johann David Wyss ( May 28, 1743January 11, 1818 ) is best remembered for his book The Swiss Family Robinson.

The Sir Walter Scott and his Family, a cabinet-sized picture with small full-length figures in the dress of Scottish peasants, was the result of a visit to Abbotsford in 1818.

The Swedish Royal Family since 1818 consists of a number of persons in the Swedish Royal House of Bernadotte, closely related to the King of Sweden.

To the Bernese poet, Johann Rudolf Wyss ( 1782 – 1830 ), whose father, Johann David Wyss ( 1743 – 1818 ), was the author of the Swiss Family Robinson, we owe the Swiss national anthem, Rufst du mein Vaterland?

It is regarded as the forerunner of the modern bicycle and was introduced by Drais to the public in Mannheim in summer 1817 and in Paris in 1818.

As a successful diplomat between 1802 and 1819, Humboldt was plenipotentiary Prussian minister at Rome from 1802, ambassador at Vienna from 1812 during the closing struggles of the Napoleonic Wars, at the congress of Prague ( 1813 ) where he was instrumental in drawing Austria to ally with Prussia and Russia against France, a signer of the peace treaty at Paris and the treaty between Prussia and defeated Saxony ( 1815 ), at Frankfurt settling post-Napoleonic Germany, and at the congress at Aachen in 1818.

During that time he met in 1818, the young and brilliant Peruvian student of the Royal Mining School of Paris, Mariano Eduardo de Rivero y Ustariz.

Monge died at Paris on July 28, 1818, and his remains were interred in a mausoleum in the Le Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.

Another English Benedictine community, the Priory of St. Edmund, which had been formed in Paris in 1615 by Dom Gabriel Gifford, later Archbishop of Rheims and primate of France, was expelled from Paris during the Revolution, and eventually took over the vacant buildings of the community of St Gregory's in 1818.

Born Albert Honoré Charles Grimaldi on 13 November 1848 in Paris, France, the son of Prince Charles III ( 1818 – 1889 ), and Countess Antoinette de Mérode-Westerloo ( 1828 – 1864 ), a Belgian noblewoman, maternal aunt of Donna Maria Vittoria dal Pozzo, Princess della Cisterna, Duchess consort of Aosta and Queen consort of Spain.

It resolved a dispute over the location of the Maine – New Brunswick border, established the border between Lake Superior and the Lake of the Woods, originally defined in the Treaty of Paris ( 1783 ), reaffirmed the location of the border ( at the 49th parallel ) in the westward frontier up to the Rocky Mountains defined in the Treaty of 1818, called for a final end to the slave trade on the high seas, and agreed to shared use of the Great Lakes.

Again, due to errors on the Mitchell Map, Treaty of Paris reads "... through the Lake of the Woods to the most northwesternmost point thereof, and from thence on a due west course to the river Mississippi ..." With the border clarification established by the Anglo-American Convention of 1818 defining the boundary about Lake of the Woods to the Rocky Mountains, this treaty reaffirmed the border and further detailed the border by modifying the border definition to instead read as "... at the Chaudiere Falls, from which the Commissioners traced the line to the most northwestern point of the Lake of the Woods, thence, along the said line to the said most northwestern point, being in latitude 49 ° 23 ′ 55 ″ north, and in longitude 95 ° 14 ′ 38 ″ west from the Observatory at Greenwich ; thence, according to existing treaties, due south to its intersection with the 49th parallel of north latitude, and along that parallel to the Rocky Mountains ..."

There is a complete edition of the works of Helvétius, published at Paris, 1818.

Three more volumes ( Paris, 1818 – 1824 ) followed and met with a mixed reception from the Gallican bishops and monarchists, but with the enthusiastic support from the younger clergy.

From the top of the tower, the first French panorama painter Pierre Prévost drew in 1818 his " Panorama de Constantinople " which was later exposed in Paris in 1825.

After sundry journeys in Italy he again visited Paris in 1818, and then went to England.

In 1818, her husband became king of Sweden ; but she remained in Paris, officially for health reasons, which was discussed in the papers in Paris and by her visitors.

In 1818 Laffitte saved Paris from financial crisis by buying a large amount of stock, but the following year, as a result of his vigorous defence of the liberty of the press and the electoral law of 1817, he lost the governorship of the Bank.
