Princeton class of 1882 graduate Thomas Peebles moved to Minnesota in 1884, and transplanted the idea of organized crowds cheering at football games to the University of Minnesota.

Dylan Thomas was born in Swansea, in Wales, on 27 October 1914, to David John Thomas ( 1876 – 1952 ), a teacher, and Florence Hannah ( née Williams ) ( 1882 – 1958 ), a seamstress.

In organic chemistry Carnelley ’ s Rule, established in 1882 by Thomas Carnelley, stated that high molecular symmetry is associated with high melting point.
