The Alan Parsons Project was an English progressive rock band, active between 1975 and 1990, consisting of singer Eric Woolfson and keyboardist Alan Parsons surrounded by a varying number of session musicians.

The one occasion where the band was introduced as " The Alan Parsons Project " in a live performance was at Night of the Proms 1990 ( at the time of the group's break-up ), featuring all Project regulars except Woolfson who was present but behind the scenes, while Parsons stayed at the mixer except during the last song, where he played acoustic guitar.

In 1990, he appeared on " Kool Thing ", a song by the alternative rock band Sonic Youth, and along with Flavor Flav, he sang on George Clinton's song " Tweakin '", which appears on his 1989 album The Cinderella Theory.

Also New Order recorded the official song of the England national football team's 1990 World Cup campaign, " World in Motion ", under the ad-hoc band name EnglandNewOrder.

In June 2012, Chris Coghill, the writer of the new film which is set during the Stone Roses 1990 Spike Island show, revealed that the band “ have at least three or four new tracks recorded .”
