Jacques-Louis David (; ) ( 30 August 1748 – 29 December 1825 ) was an influential French painter in the Neoclassical style, considered to be the preeminent painter of the era.

When David was leaving a theater, a carriage struck him, and he later died, on 29 December 1825.

Eli Whitney ( December 8, 1765 – January 8, 1825 ) was an American inventor best known for inventing the cotton gin.

This led to the Decembrist Revolt on 26 December ( 14 Old Style ) 1825, an uprising Nicholas was successful in suppressing.
