Although the Cirth were later largely replaced by the Tengwar ( which were enhanced and brought by Fëanor ), they were adopted by Dwarves to write down their Khuzdul language ( Angerthas Moria and Angerthas Erebor ) because their straight lines were better suited to carving than the curved strokes of the Tengwar.

Though many of the Company were reluctant, they were forced to turn back and instead make for the mines of Moria.

When the characters led by Aragorn leave Moria they emerge onto a rocky plateau.

However, the fact that Orcs from Moria entered Lórien after The Fellowship of the Ring and Lórien itself had suffered previous attacks from Sauron's Orcs sent from Dol Guldur suggests the power of the ring did not constitute military prowess.

Originally only players who purchased the Mines of Moria Expansion had access to Moria and Lothlórien.

Don Daglow wrote an enhanced version of the program called Ecala on a PDP-10 mainframe computer at Pomona College in 1973 before writing what was possibly the second or third computer role-playing game, Dungeon ( 1975 ) ( The first was probably " dnd ", written on and for the PLATO system in 1974, and the second may have been Moria, written in 1975 ).

They thought instead that it might have been lost when Thrór was killed by Azog in Moria.

In The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien wrote that Mithril is found only in Khazad-dûm ( Moria ) in Middle-earth, where it is mined by the Dwarves.

Before Moria was abandoned by the Dwarves, while it was still being actively mined, Mithril was worth ten times its weight in gold.

The mail saved Frodo's life when he was hit by an Orc spear during the battle in the Chamber of Mazarbul, and again when an Orc arrow struck him while escaping Moria.

The orc party included orcs from Mordor led by Grishnákh, Saruman's " fighting Uruk-hai " from Isengard led by Uglúk, and " northerners ", orcs from Moria.
