About a fifth of the law code is taken up by Alfred's introduction, which includes translations into English of the Decalogue, a few chapters from the Book of Exodus, and the " Apostolic Letter " from Acts of the Apostles ( 15: 23 – 29 ).

The self-described purpose of Christianity is to provide people with what it holds to be the only valid path to salvation as announced by the apostles of what the Book of Acts describes as, The Way.

By 1555 he had completed his work on the New Testament, finishing with the Acts and the Gospels ( he omitted only the brief second and third Epistles of John and the Book of Revelation ).

The Book of Acts portrays the disciples of John as eventually merging into the followers of Jesus ( Acts 18: 24-19: 6 ), a development not reported by the Gospels except for the early case of Andrew, Simon Peter's brother ( John 1: 35-42 ).

Luke, who wrote the Gospel of Luke, was a physician who lived around AD 30 to 130 ( exact years are not known ), and he also wrote the Book of Acts in the Bible.

In the last chapter of the Book of Acts, widely attributed to Luke, we find several accounts in the first person also affirming Luke's presence in Rome including Acts 28: 16: " And when we came to Rome ..." According to some accounts, Luke also contributed to authorship of the Epistle to the Hebrews.
