The Marvel Universe is the shared fictional universe where stories in most comic book titles and other media published by Marvel Entertainment take place, including those featuring Marvel's most familiar characters, such as Spider-Man, the Hulk, the X-Men, and the Avengers.

What happens on Earth in the main Marvel Universe would normally have no effect on what happens on a parallel Earth in another Marvel-created universe.

One cannot normally alter the Marvel Universe's history ; if a time-traveller should cause an alteration to the established flow of events at some point in the past, a divergent universe will simply " branch out " from the existing timeline, and the time-traveller will still return to his or her unaltered original universe.
