Joan of England, ( 22 July 1210 – 4 March 1238 ), was the eldest legitimate daughter and third child of John of England and Isabella of Angoulême.

Her half-aunt, the future Queen Isabella I of Castile, was due to inherit the crown, but Afonso V was keen to interfere with the succession in Castile.

Afonso was first married to his cousin Isabella of Coimbra in 1447.

Alfonso was the son of Queen Isabella II of Spain, and allegedly, of her husband and King Consort, Francis, Duke of Cádiz.

He was the father of three future rulers of Jerusalem, Sibylla, Baldwin IV, and Isabella I.

Maria Comnena had borne Amalric two daughters: Isabella, who would eventually marry four husbands in turn and succeed as queen, was born in 1172 ; and a stillborn child some time later.

Some older composers in Naples, notably Zingarelli and Paisiello, were inclined to intrigue against the success of the youthful composer, but all hostility was rendered futile by the enthusiasm that greeted the court performance of his Elisabetta, regina d ' Inghilterra, in which Isabella Colbran, who subsequently became the composer's wife, took a leading part.

In 1868, the Spanish queen Isabella II was expelled by a revolution, leaving that country's throne vacant.

Pursuant to an agreement signed by Isabella and Ferdinand on January 15, 1474, Isabella held more authority over the newly unified Spain than her husband, although their rule was shared.

The remainder of the former regime were brought to Isabella.

Isabella is descended from Gytha of Wessex through King Andrew II of Hungary and thus brought the bloodline of the last Saxon King of England, Harold Godwinson, back into the English Royal family.

In his old age he was engaged in incessant conflicts with his Aragonese and Catalan subjects, with Louis XI of France, and in preparing the way for the marriage of his son Ferdinand with Isabella I of Castile which brought about the union of the crowns of Aragon and Castile, that was to create the Kingdom of Spain.

In 1621, with the support of the archdukes Albert and Isabella, the Jesuits brought educational institutions and their religious influence to the city.

At Shrewsbury he was captured by his old enemy John Charlton of Powys, and brought to Queen Isabella at Hereford.

The basilica's 16th-century coffered ceiling, to a design by Giuliano da Sangallo, is said to be gilded with Inca gold presented by Ferdinand and Isabella to the Spanish pope, initially brought by Christopher Columbus, Alexander VI ( something which factually is erroneous, since the Inca empire was conquered during the reign of Charles V ).

Another guest appearance in General Hospital the same year brought her big break on the CBS Daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, portraying Isabella Braña from 2001 to 2003.

He does not cease to marvel at the extraordinary wildlife which is far more plentiful around the Gambia, notably the hippopotamus ( which he calls the " horse fish ") and the largely unfamiliar African elephant ( whose meat he was tempted to taste-a piece of which he salted and brought back to Portugal for Prince Henry himself ; a preserved elephant's foot would be forwarded to Henry's sister, Isabella, Duchess of Burgundy.
