* Published in 1983, Eric Rolfe Greenberg's The Celebrant offers a fictional biography about Mathewson from the perspective of Jack Kapp, a Jewish American jewelry designer.

Decca became a major player in the depressed American record market thanks to its roster of popular artists, particularly Bing Crosby, the shrewd management of former US Brunswick General Manager Jack Kapp, and the decision to price Decca at 35 cents.

In 1934, Jack Kapp established a country & western line for the new Decca label by signing Frank Luther, Sons of the Pioneers, Stuart Hamblen, The Ranch Boys, and other popular acts based in both New York and Los Angeles.

Instrumental to the sisters ' success over the years were their parents, Olga and Peter ; their orchestra leader and musical arranger, Vic Schoen ( 1916 – 2000 ); music publishing giant Lou Levy, who died only days after Maxene, and was their manager from 1937 – 51 and was also Maxene's husband from 1941 – 49 ; and both Jack Kapp ( d. 1949 ) and his brother David Kapp, who founded Decca Records. Maxene was the mother of 2 children, Mark ( born -) & Shianne ( born ).

Jack Kapp became record company executive of Brunswick in 1930.

In the Kapp years, Jones recorded almost twenty albums, including Shall We Dance, This Was My Love, She Loves Me, Call Me Irresponsible, I ´ ve Got a Lot of Living To Do !, Bewitched, Wives and Lovers, Dear Heart, Where Love Has Gone, The Jack Jones Christmas Album, My Kind of Town, The Impossible Dream, The In Crowd, Jack Jones Sings, Lady, and Our Song Young, handsome, and well-groomed, Jack Jones was an anomaly in the sixties, eschewing rock and roll trends and opting for the big band sound, lush romantic ballads and the Great American Songbook, although sometimes he recorded something more pop, country, or bossa nova-oriented.

The first " Knockin ' on Wood " and " Hole in the Wall " pleased Brunswick's recording director Jack Kapp and he was booked for another session.

Norvo recorded 8 modern swing sides for Columbia in 1934 – 1935, and 15 sides of Decca and their short-lived Champion label series in 1936 ( strangely enough, Jack Kapp ran Decca, so they must've patched things up by then ).

The following year, Jack Kapp produced an album of songs from Show Boat timed to the 1932 Ziegfeld revival.

In late 1934, they followed Jack Kapp to the newly formed Decca Records and stayed there well into the LP era when they signed with Capitol.

Jack Kapp ( June 15, 1901 – March 25, 1949 ) was a record company executive with Brunswick Records who founded Decca Records in 1934.

In 1938, Decca began releasing record sleeves with cover artwork ; other innovations such as liner notes and Broadway cast albums followed ( although Jack Kapp pioneered this practice in 1933 by recording the entire " Blackbirds of 1928 " and " Showboat " scores and issuing them in album sets ).

Kapp Records was an independent record label started in 1954 by David Kapp, brother of Jack Kapp ( who had set up American Decca Records in 1934 ).

Shea began his recording career at the U. S. branch of Decca Records after being signed by A & R representative Jack Kapp, who told Shea: " If you do better than the singer we have in mind, we will give you a contract.

Artists signed to American Decca in the 1930s and 1940s included Louis Armstrong, Charlie Kunz, Count Basie, Jimmie Lunceford, Jane Froman, The Boswell Sisters, Billie Holiday, The Andrews Sisters, Ted Lewis, Judy Garland, The Mills Brothers, Billy Cotton, Guy Lombardo, Chick Webb, Louis Jordan ( the No. 1 R & B artist of the 1940s ), Bob Crosby, Bill Kenny & The Ink Spots, Dorsey Brothers ( and subsequently Jimmy Dorsey after the brothers split ), Connee Boswell and Jack Hylton, Victor Young, Earl Hines, Claude Hopkins, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the original ' soul sister ' of recorded music.

In 1939, after a series of unsuccessful recordings for Victor Records and Decca Records, The Ink Spots had their first smash hit on Decca Records with " If I Didn't Care ", a song written by Jack Lawrence, that featured Bill Kenny.

Decca Records planned to make Green a teen idol, regularly getting the young pre-teenager featured in fanzines like Teen Scene and on popular television shows like The Jack Benny Show and The Steve Allen Show.

ASV Records is a London-based record label set up by Harley Usill, founder of Argo Records, Decca producer and former Argo General Manager, Kevin Daly, and producer Jack Boyce, after Argo's parent company Decca was bought by Polygram in 1980.

While moving over to Decca in 1969, Seely teamed up with fellow Country star, Jack Greene.

And so when the others stampeded out that afternoon Jack remained docilely in his seat near a window, looking out in what he hoped was a pitiable manner, while the other kids laughed and yelled in at him and made faces as they dispersed, going home.
