They changed the name of the band again to the final one, Kreator and signed to Noise Records in 1985.

Kreator is a thrash metal band from Essen, Germany, formed in 1982 with no name, but decided on Tormentor in 1984.

With many other thrash bands such as Metallica and Anthrax changing their sound for a more commercial approach, Kreator began experimenting with death metal and industrial metal around this time.

In 2001, with new guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, Kreator released their " comeback " album Violent Revolution, which saw the band returning to their classic thrash metal style.

In early 2006, Kreator toured North America with Napalm Death, A Perfect Murder, and The Undying.

Kreator were to tour 2008 with King Diamond, Leaves Eyes, and Cellador, however the tour was canceled due to back issues with King Diamond.

According to Mille Petrozza, Kreator will enter the studio in January 2012 to begin work on their next album with producer Jens Bogren.

Kreator will co-headline a 23 date North American tour this Fall with Nuclear Blast stable-mates Accept.

The band then toured Europe and Latin America ( sometimes without Moen, who chose to remain at home and focus on songwriting ) along with Nightwish, Gothminister, and Kreator.

After releasing The Jester Race, the band then toured with Samael, Grip Inc. and Kreator.

The band toured a month later in Canada and subsequently in the U. S. with German thrash metal veterans Kreator and Destruction.

Beatallica would go on to perform with likes of Motorhead, Testament, Kreator, Sepultura, LA Guns and play huge summer festivals worldwide, including Milwaukee's Summerfest, Germany's Earthshaker Festival, The Netherlands ' Kings of Metal festival, and Korea's Busan International Rock Festival.

In 1989, German director Thomas Schadt made a documentary about Kreator ( focusing on the social aspect of heavy metal in the Ruhr Area ) titled Thrash Altenessen ( named after the band's hometown, a suburb of Essen ).

He has also performed guest guitar solos on The Haunted's One Kill Wonder for the song " Bloodletting ", and the Kreator record Enemy of God for the song " Murder Fantasies ".

The tour was extremely successful and introduced Kreator to a younger generation of metal fans.

This made Sodom famous, giving them worldwide critical acclaim, and secured their place alongside Kreator and Destruction as one of the great Teutonic thrash metal bands.

They brought thrash metal to their music, influenced by bands such as Slayer, Exodus, Kreator and hardcore bands around the world that were also transitioning to a more thrash metal sound, like Suicidal Tendencies, D. R. I., English Dogs, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front and others ( including Brazilian bands such as Lobotomia and Armagedom ).

Heavy Metal bands such as Sweden's Arch Enemy and Germany's Kreator have also embraced anarchistic themes in their lyrics and imagery.

Other artists usually considered part of this movement include Hellhammer and Celtic Frost ( from Switzerland ), Kreator, Sodom and Destruction ( from Germany ), Bulldozer and Death SS ( from Italy ), whose vocalist Steve Sylvester was a member of the Ordo Templi Orientis.

To date, Kreator has released thirteen studio albums, two EPs, one live album and three compilation albums.

Berlin based independent record label Noise Records licensed Kreator for the territories outside of Europe and Japan to the major label Epic Records in 1988.
