Stereo 8 was created in 1964 by a consortium led by Bill Lear of Lear Jet Corporation, along with Ampex, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Motorola, and RCA Victor Records ( RCA ).

The Lear Jet Stereo 8 track cartridge was designed by Richard Kraus while working under Bill Lear and for his Lear Jet Corporation in 1963.

In 1962, the Lear Jet Corporation began when the Swiss American Aviation Corporation bought the tooling for building a failed ground-attack fighter to Wichita and opened a plant at Wichita's airport.

On February 7, 1963 assembly of the first Learjet aircraft began and the following year, the company was renamed the Lear Jet Corporation.

Hannibal Regional Airport, ( formerly Hannibal Municipal Airport ) was named William P. Lear Field in 2003 in honor of the inventor of the Lear Jet.

The airport is also home to the Happy Hooligans of the 119th Wing ( 119 WG ), a unit of the North Dakota Air National Guard that operates the C-21A Lear Jet and MQ-1 Predator.

In September 1965, RCA and Lear Jet Corp. teamed up to release the first stereo 8-track tape music Cartridges ( Stereo 8 ) which were first used in the 1966 line of Ford automobiles and were popular throughout the late 1960s and 1970s.

Almost all production business jets, such as General Dynamics ' Gulfstream and the Gates Lear Jet ( now built by Bombardier ), have had two or three engines, though the Jetstar, an early business jet, had four.

He was arrested in an internet cafe in Cologne and brought to the Düsseldorf airport, where a chartered Lear Jet took him to Istanbul.

There are memorials on the island to the British destroyer HMS Coventry and to an Argentinian Lear Jet, both destroyed during the conflict.

The next year, the company was renamed the Lear Jet Corporation.

Just over a month later, Lear Jet became a publicly-owned corporation.

On September 19 of the same year, the company was renamed Lear Jet Industries Inc.

He is best known for founding the Lear Jet Corporation, a manufacturer of business jets.

Lear developed the Lear Jet Stereo 8 music cartridge in 1964, better-known as the " 8-track ".

The idea, or possibility, of female centaurs was certainly known in early modern times, as evidenced by Shakespeare's King Lear, Act IV, Scene vi, ln. 124 – 125:

Edgar may have been named after a character in William Shakespeare's King Lear, a play the couple was performing in 1809.

The 1990 release The Earth, a Small Man, His Dog and a Chicken, with Bryan Hitt ( formerly of Wang Chung ) replacing Graham Lear on drums, Dave Amato debuting on lead guitar, and songwriter / keyboardist Jesse Harms, was a commercial disappointment.

" His most famous poem, " On the Ning Nang Nong ", was voted the UK's favourite comic poem in 1998 in a nationwide poll, ahead of other nonsense poets including Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear.

( Verdi had toyed, too, with writing an opera based on King Lear and Arrigo Boito later tried to interest him in Antony and Cleopatra, but neither project was ever brought to fruition.

The Romans called it ’’ Portus Dubris ’’; the modern name was in use at least by the time Shakespeare wrote King Lear ( between 1603 and 1606 ), in which the town and its cliffs play a prominent role.

Le Père Goriot ( Old Father Goriot, 1835 ) was his next success, in which Balzac transposes the story of King Lear to 1820s Paris in order to rage at a society bereft of all love save the love of money.

Shakespeare's earlier version, The True Chronicle of the History of the Life and Death of King Lear and His Three Daughters, was published in quarto in 1608.

The Tragedy of King Lear, a more theatrical version, was included in the 1623 First Folio.

Besides the subplot involving the Earl of Gloucester and his sons, the principal innovation Shakespeare made to this story was the death of Cordelia and Lear at the end.

There was a debate in Shakespeare ’ s time about what nature really was like, a debate that pervades the play and finds symbolic expression in Lear ’ s changing attitude to Thunder.

The play ’ s poignant ending scene, wherein Lear carries the body of his beloved Cordelia, was of great importance to Freud.

His version had a powerful emotional impact: Lear driven to madness by his daughters was ( in the words of one spectator, Arthur Murphy ) " the finest tragic distress ever seen on any stage " and, in contrast, the devotion shown to Lear by Cordelia ( a mix of Shakespeare's, Tate's and Garrick's contributions to the part ) moved the audience to tears.

King Lear was politically controversial during the period of George III's madness, and as a result was not performed at all in the two professional theatres of London from 1811 to 1820: but was then the subject of major productions in both, within three months of his death.

Poel was influenced by a performance of King Lear directed by Jocza Savits at the Hoftheater in Munich in 1890, set on an apron stage with a three-tier Globe-like reconstruction theatre as its backdrop.

In 1984 Piper changed hands when parent company Bangor Punta was acquired by Lear Siegler.

Lear Siegler, in turn, was acquired by Forstmann Little in 1986.

Additionally a copy of the BBC broadcast of King Lear was acquired.

In 1985, Lear sold all his film and television production holdings to Columbia Pictures ( then owned by the Coca-Cola Company ) which acquired Embassy's film and television division ( which included Embassy's in-house television productions and the television rights to the Embassy theatrical library ) for $ 485 million in shares of The Coca-Cola Company.

On June 18, 1985, Columbia acquired Norman Lear and Jerry Perenchio's Embassy Pictures Corporation ( included Embassy Television and Tandem Productions ), mostly for its library of highly successful television series such as All in the Family and The Jeffersons for $ 485 million.

On April 10, 1967, Bill Lear's stock — he held approximately 60 % of the company ( US $ 27, 000, 000 )— was acquired by the Gates Rubber Company of Denver, Colorado, United States, with Lear remaining on the board until April 2, 1969.

In the same press release, URS stated that it would also retire other acquired brands, Washington Group and Lear Siegler.

The airline started operations in May 1966, but already in June they had to acquire another The New Piper Aircraft Aztec C. In 1967 the airline acquired a sea plane and Norway's first executive jet, a Lear Jet 23.
