Bardot was idolized by young John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

Contrary to popular belief, teenagers John Lennon and Paul McCartney did not attend a Holly concert, although they watched his television appearance on Sunday Night at the London Palladium ; Tony Bramwell, a school friend of McCartney and George Harrison, did.

Lennon's first wife Cynthia Powell lightened her hair color to more closely resemble Bardot, while George Harrison made comparisons between Bardot and his first wife Pattie Boyd, as Cynthia wrote later in A Twist of Lennon.

During her career, Ono has collaborated with a diverse group of artists and musicians including John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann, Cornelius ( Keigo Oyamada, Naoki Shimizu and Yoko Araki ), Frank Zappa, Sean Lennon, Yuka Honda, Jim Keltner, Earl Slick, Peaches, John Cage, David Tudor, George Maciunas, Ornette Coleman, Charlotte Moorman, George Brecht, Jackson Mac Low, Jonas Mekas, Fred DeAsis, Yvonne Rainer, La Monte Young, Richard Maxfield, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Yo La Tengo, and Andy Warhol ( in 1987 Ono was one of the speakers at Warhol's funeral ).

Similarly, although The Beatles ' productions were credited to George Martin throughout their recording career, many sources now attest that Lennon and McCartney in particular had an increasing influence on the production process as the group's career progressed, and especially after the band retired from touring in 1966.

The Fifth Beatle is an informal title that various commentators in the press and entertainment industry have applied to persons who were at one point a member of The Beatles, or who had a strong association with the " Fab Four " ( John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr ) during the group's existence.

The band during this time period consisted of Best, bassist Stuart Sutcliffe ( see above ), and guitarists Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon.

The Beatles had left Rishikesh before the end of the course, with Starr and then McCartney departing, and Lennon and Harrison departing together later.

Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison pleaded with Starr to return, and after two weeks he did.

Indeed, after The Beatles was completed, both Harrison and Lennon would stage similar unpublicised departures from the band.

Lewisohn also reports that, in the case of " Back in the U. S. S. R .", also recorded during Starr's absence, the three remaining Beatles each made contributions on bass and drums, with the result that those parts may be composite tracks played by Lennon, McCartney and / or Harrison.

The " Paperback Writer " clip is more conventional, with Lennon, McCartney and Harrison lip-synching and miming playing their instruments ( although Ringo is notably not ' playing ').

Harrison, the usual lead guitarist, had temporarily quit the group on 10 January, so Lennon worked out the lead guitar.

After the police spoke to Mal Evans, he turned off Lennon and Harrison's amplifiers only for Harrison to switch them back on, insisting that they finish the song.

In both versions the lead guitar played by Lennon is in the left channel and the rhythm guitar played by Harrison is in the right channel.

Lennon played an Epiphone Casino ; McCartney played a Mellotron, a new home instrument purchased by Lennon on August 12, 1965, ( with another model hired in after encouragement from Mike Pinder of The Moody Blues ); Starr played drums, and Harrison played electric guitar.
