Archduke Charles of Austria, Duke of Teschen (, also known as Karl von Österreich-Teschen ) ( Full name: Karl Ludwig Johann Josef Lorenz of Austria ) ( 5 September 1771 – 30 April 1847 ) was an Austrian field-marshal, the third son of emperor Leopold II and his wife Infanta Maria Luisa of Spain.

Between 1240 and 1270, Dachau was granted market privileges, first by Duke Otto II, and then by his son, Duke Ludwig II der Strenge.

On 12 November 1880 Wagner conducted a private performance of the Prelude for his patron Ludwig II of Bavaria at the Court Theatre in Munich.

For the first twenty years of its existence, the only staged performances of Parsifal ( apart from eight private performances for Ludwig II at Munich in 1884 and 1885 ) took place in the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, the venue for which Wagner conceived the work.

It was only after Wagner's adoption by Ludwig II of Bavaria that enough resources could be found to mount the premiere of Tristan und Isolde.

Louis ( also Ludwig or Lewis ) the German ( 806 – 28 August 876 ), also known as Louis II, was a grandson of Charlemagne and the third son of the succeeding Frankish Emperor Louis the Pious and his first wife, Ermengarde of Hesbaye.

This model was implemented by Alfred Müller-Armack and Ludwig Erhard after World War II in West Germany.

In Germany, the title Prinzregent ( literally prince regent ) is most commonly associated with Prince Luitpold of Bavaria, who served as regent for two of his nephews, King Ludwig II of Bavaria, who was declared mentally incompetent in 1886, and King Otto of Bavaria ( who had been declared insane in 1875 ) from 1886 until 1912.

Wagner wanted this opera to be premiered as part of the entire cycle, but was forced to allow the performance at the insistence of his patron King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

It received its premiere at the National Theatre Munich on 26 June 1870 at the insistence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

Wagner's villa, " Wahnfried ", was constructed in Bayreuth under the sponsorship of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, and was converted after World War II into a Wagner Museum.
