Rockerduck ( 1961 ) and Magica De Spell ( 1961 ).

In some stories, Gyro's primary rival is Emil Eagle, although he is also antagonized by the Beagle Boys and Magica De Spell.

In a later interview, Barks identified a similar figure from the comic strips of Charles Addams as another source of inspiration for Magica, namely Morticia Addams of The Addams Family.

Magica and Negaduck had contempt for each other, which they kept hidden behind a ' friendly ' facade ; early on, Negaduck sarcastically refers to his desire for a city and hers for "... one dime " as being " similar ambitions ".

Don Rosa's incarnation of Magica De Spell is, however, far more limited as she usually only uses magic through magical objects and in The Quest for Kalevala, Magica acknowledges that she can't use magic without a wand.

The roleplaying game Ars Magica is one such ' historical ' game, set in what its source materials call ' Mythic Europe ': while history is generally accepted to unfold as depicted in real-world historical accounts, Ars Magica presents a detailed background for its setting, tying the existence of magic, wizards and the Faerie realms into a historical context while allowing for ' fantasy ' elements to come into play.

Both Johan Karlsson and Kristoffer Osterman have expressed their love for role-playing games, especially Ars Magica and roguelikes.
