From 1964 until 2002, a second segment of Route 126 ran from I-5 to State Route 14 through Santa Clarita via Magic Mountain Parkway and what was then called San Fernando Road ( now Railroad Avenue from Magic Mountain Parkway to Main Street, all of Main Street, and Newhall Avenue from Main Street to Route 14 ); it has since been decommissioned.

Rivers ' home, which was moved from its original spot on Banks Lake to West Main Street in Lakeland in the early 1980s ; Union Baptist Church, located near Georgia Highway 135 ; and Fender Cemetery, located east of Lakeland at the junction of U. S. 221 and Georgia Highway 37 on land that once belonged to David Fender.

Mendocino Presbyterian Church on Main Street, dedicated on July 5, 1868, is one of the oldest continuously-used Protestant churches in California, and is designated as California Historical Landmark # 714.

Also on Main Street are Enigma Baptist Church and Enigma Methodist Church next door to one another.

Auburn Church of Christ is home of the Main Event youth group that is traveled to Louisiana for missions work in June, 2007.

The third oldest town in Louisiana, St. Martinville has many buildings and homes with beautiful architecture, such as the historic St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church and La Maison Duchamp on Main Street.
