* 1965 – Malcolm X is assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City by members of the Nation of Islam.

The Spike Lee film Malcolm X impressed him deeply and sparked his interest in Islam.

The Nation of Islam's notable leaders are Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan and Warith Deen Mohammed.

Malcolm X rose rapidly to become the minister of Boston Temple No. 11, which he founded ; he was later rewarded with the post of minister of Temple No. 7.

Elijah Muhammad named Malcolm X the National Representative of the Nation of Islam, his second in rank.

Malcolm X left the Nation in March 1964 and in the next month founded Muslim Mosque, Inc., claiming, " I never left the Nation of Islam of my own free will.

Louis X first proved himself at Temple No. 7 in Harlem, where he emerged as the protege of Malcolm X. Louis X was appointed head minister of Boston Temple No. 11, which Malcolm X had established earlier.

The official beliefs of the Nation of Islam have been outlined in books, documents, and articles published by the organization, as well as speeches by Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan, and other ministers.

During the time when Malcolm X was a member and leader of the Nation of Islam, he preached that black people were genetically superior to white people but were dominated by a system of white supremacy:

When asked about Karl Marx, Malcolm X ( who had never read Marx ) stated that he agreed with Spengler ’ s view of social class and economic systems as secondary to racial identity.

While George Romero denies he hired Duane Jones simply because he was black, reviewer Mark Deming notes that " the grim fate of Duane Jones, the sole heroic figure and only African-American, had added resonance with the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X fresh in the minds of most Americans ".

" The king referred to is Alexander's father, Malcolm III, and Domnall was Alexander's half brother.

This is referred to in an episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Alexander appears as a neurotic and critical loner called Leonard.

As late as 1091, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle describes how the Scottish king, Malcolm ,' went with his army out of Scotland into Lothian ' and in the reign of King David I of Scotland, the people living in Lothian are referred to as, ' English '.

The Nation of Gods and Earths, sometimes referred to as NGE or NOGE, the Five-Percent Nation, or the Five Percenters is an American organization founded in 1964 in the Harlem section of the borough of Manhattan, New York City, by Clarence 13X ( born Clarence Edward Smith ), a former student of Malcolm X, who left his mosque because he disagreed with the Nation of Islam over the nature and identity of God.

One of his most memorable actions as Speaker occurred in February 1982 when a Labor frontbencher, Bob Hawke, referred to then Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser as a " liar " during question time.

Fredrick Malcolm Waring ( June 9, 1900 – July 29, 1984 ) was a popular musician, bandleader and radio-television personality, sometimes referred to as " America's Singing Master " and " The Man Who Taught America How to Sing.

The Governor Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge, usually referred to as Tappan Zee Bridge, is a cantilever bridge in New York State over the Hudson River at one of its widest points ; the Tappan Zee is named for an American Indian tribe from the area called " Tappan "; and zee being the Dutch word for " sea ".

When Malcolm X spoke of " the type of Black man on the scene in America today doesn't intend to turn the other cheek any longer ", he was addressing his followers, people who were not advocates of the non-violent approach generally favored by the Civil Rights Movement.

The film critic Barry Norman included it among his 100 best films of all time, and fellow critic Derek Malcolm also included the film in his Century of Films, describing it as " perfectly representing a certain type of bumbling British humour ", despite being directed by a Parisian director.

Black pride as a national movement is closely linked with the developments of the American Civil Rights Movement, during which noted figures such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, A. Philip Randolph, Stokely Carmichael, and others protested the conditions of the United States ' segregated society, and lobbied for better treatment for people of the Black race.

Gettier was educated at Cornell University, where his mentors included Max Black and Norman Malcolm.

He views “ Africadian ” literature as “ literal and liberal — I canonize songs and sonnets, histories and homilies .” Clarke has stated that he found further writing inspiration in the 1970s and his “ individualist poetic scored with implicit social commentary ” came from the ‘ Gang of Seven ’ intellectuals, “ poet-politicos: jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, troubadour-bard Bob Dylan, libertine lyricist Irving Layton, guerrilla leader and poet Mao Zedong, reactionary modernist Ezra Pound, Black Power orator Malcolm X and the Right Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau .” Though flawed, Clarke found “ as a whole, the group ’ s blunt talk, suave styles, acerbic independence, raunchy macho, feisty lyricism, singing heroic and a scarf-and-beret chivalry quite, well, liberating .”

Black nationalist Malcolm X, in his Message to the Grass Roots speech, criticized the march, describing it as " a picnic " and " a circus ".

Heavily influenced by the work of Frantz Fanon and his landmark book Wretched of the Earth, along with others such as Malcolm X, under Carmichael's leadership SNCC gradually became more radical and focused on Black Power as its core goal and ideology.

Malcolm X and his parents, Martin Luther King Jr. and his parents, Elijah Mohammad and the Nation of Islam, Black Panthers, Bob Marley and a multitude of others were significantly influenced by Garvey and decided to keep his vision of " Africa for the Africans " moving forward.

While some groups and individuals within the civil rights movement — such as Malcolm X — advocated Black Power, black separatism, or even armed resistance, the majority of participants remained committed to the principles of nonviolence, a deliberate decision by an oppressed minority to abstain from violence for political gain.

* February 21, 1965 – Black nationalist leader Malcolm X is assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom by three members of the Nation of Islam.

This incident is orchestrated by Malcolm Cortez, the son of Fabian Cortez, who wants to take leadership from Black Panther.

Janet, along with the other remaining zombies ( the new Colonel America, Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Giant Man, Wolverine, and Black Panther ), end up teleported to another universe by Malcolm Cortez.

Citing the history in the U. S. of political assassinations of revolutionaries ( including Malcolm X and Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton ), and the increasing attacks and threats against Avakian, in 1981 Avakian left the country and went into self-exile in France.

They are influenced by the teachings of the Jamaican proponent of Black nationalism, Marcus Garvey ( 1887 – 1940 ), and by the Black civil rights milieu in 1960s America, including figures such as the Black Panthers, Martin Luther King and Malcolm X.

The company also continued to collaborate with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and Opera Noire of New York to highlight the role of opera in African-American history including the programs Opera at the Schomburg, A Tribute to Robert McFerrin, and X, The Life and Times of Malcolm X.

Wiley published several books during the course of his career, including Serenity, A Boxing Memoir ; Why Black People Tend To Shout ; and By Any Means Necessary: The Trials and Tribulations of Making Malcolm X, with Spike Lee.

In March 1965 following the 21 February assassination of Malcolm X, LeRoi Jones ( Amiri Baraka ) moved from Manhattan's Lower East Side uptown to Harlem, an exodus considered the symbolic birth of the Black Arts movement.

The Black Government Conference was convened by the Malcolm X Society and the Group on Advanced Leadership ( GOAL ), two influential Detroit-based organizations with broad followings.

On March 8, 1964, Malcolm X announced his separation from the Nation of Islam, a Black nationalist religious organization for which he had been the spokesman for nearly a decade.

Malcolm X described his continued commitment to Black nationalism, which he defined as the philosophy that African-Americans should govern their own communities.

Malcolm said that the philosophy of Black nationalism was being taught in the major civil rights organizations, including the NAACP, CORE, and SNCC.
