The artwork for " Pineapple Head " was created by Reg Mombassa of Mental As Anything.

Mombassa was born Christopher O ' Doherty in Auckland, New Zealand on 14 August 1951.

" Reg Mombassa " was one of the products of that amusement.

Richard Allan ’ s arrival at Mambo was followed by other Australian and overseas artists including, Reg Mombassa ( guitarist and original member of Australian rock band, Mental As Anything ), Robert Moore, Paul McNeil, Marcelle Lunam, Matthew Martin, Gerry Wedd, Robert Williams ( US ), Trevor Jackson ( UK ), Rockin ’ Jelly Bean ( Japan ) and more recently, Josh Petherick, Ben Frost, Kelly Smith, Marty Schneider and Kareena Zerefos.

It was called ‘ Blue Hawaii ’ by Martin Plaza ( a band mate of Reg Mombassa ).

Its most popular line-up was Martin Plaza ( real name Martin Murphy ) on vocals and guitar ; Reg Mombassa ( real name Chris O ' Doherty ) on lead guitar and vocals ; his brother Peter " Yoga Dog " O ' Doherty on bass guitar and vocals ; Wayne " Bird " Delisle ( real name David Twohill ) on drums ; and Andrew " Greedy " Smith on vocals, keyboards and harmonica.

It provided two more singles, the Smith and Mombassa collaboration " Spirit Got Lost " ( March ), which was accompanied by an imaginative animated video clip, and Pete O ' Doherty's " Brain Brain " ( September ).

It was another year before their next single, Mombassa and Plaza's blackly humorous Christmas release, " Apocalypso ( Wiping the Smile off Santa's Face )" appeared in December 1984, which was one of the first Australian recordings to be remixed as a 12 " ' disco ' version.

At the ceremony they were inducted by Roy Slaven and they performed " Live It Up ", " The Nips are Getting Bigger " and " If You Leave Me Can I Come Too " with Mombassa and O ' Doherty rejoining them onstage.

For the first four albums Mombassa and Noel Crombie, who had been the main designer of Split Enz's artwork, assisted Seymour in creating sets and costumes.

For the Farewell to the World concerts Crombie designed the set, while Mombassa and Seymour designed promotional materials and artwork.

The compilation – which boasted album-sleeve artwork by Reg Mombassa – made No. 20 on the UK album charts.

Reg Mombassa is the pseudonym of Chris O ' Doherty, a New Zealand born artist and musician.

It also saw the release of " Golden Sandals " directed by Haydn Keenan, a documentary on Mombassa featuring animated versions of his artwork.

In November 2009 Harper Collins released a biography by Murray Waldren called " The mind and times of Reg Mombassa ", which includes over 200 art works.

In 1991, Mombassa formed the band Dog Trumpet with his brother Peter O ’ Doherty.

The Archbishop and his staff were flown to Aden and then on to Mombassa.

He traveled to Mombassa, Kenya where he met with Mohammed Odeh and gave him money to purchase himself a 7-tonne trawler and start a fishing business.

The Marianists operate Our Lady of Nazareth primary school and the IMANI counseling, job training and child care center in Nairobi, and the Mastianist Development Project, a similar institution, in Mombassa.

On his passage to Goa, he subdued the pirates at Mombassa who had been harassing the coast of Portuguese Mozambique.

Their hit songs were generated by Mombassa, O ' Doherty ( Peter ), Plaza and Smith, either individually or collectively.

The group formed in Sydney in 1976 when Martin Murphy ( Martin Plaza ) met fellow student, New Zealand-born, Chris O ' Doherty ( Reg Mombassa ) at Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education ( later a campus of Sydney College of Advanced Education ), the city's leading art school.

It featured all original tracks, and is their only release on which Plaza and Mombassa were credited by their original names, Martin Murphy and Chris O ' Doherty, respectively.

Mombassa also designed innumerable t-shirts, posters, videos and record covers for Mental As Anything and other bands.
