* The firlinfeu is a popular folk instrument in Brianza, the province of Monza and the southern sides of provinces of Lecco and Como ( Italy ).

In the cathedral of Monza there is preserved a series of reliefs depicting the coronations of the kings of Italy with the Iron Crown of Lombardy.

Major tourist destinations in the region include the historic, cultural and artistic cities of Milan ( which is Italy's second top tourist destination ), Brescia, Mantua, Pavia, Como, Cremona, Bergamo, Sondrio, Lecco, Lodi, Varese, Monza, and the lakes of Garda, Como, Maggiore, and Iseo.

Monza (; ) is a city and comune on the river Lambro, a tributary of the Po, in the Lombardy region of Italy some 15 km north-northeast of Milan.

It is the capital of the Province of Monza and Brianza.

It is best known for its Grand Prix motor racing circuit, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

Monza is the third-largest city of Lombardy and the most important economic, industrial and administrative centre of the Brianza area, supporting a textile industry and a publishing trade.

Monza Park is one of the largest urban parks in Europe.

Monza is located in the high plains of Lombardy, between Brianza and Milan, at an altitude of 162 meters above sea level and is from the capital of the region and about from Lecco and Como.

At the entrance to the north in the center, between the streets Via Aliprandi and Via Zanzi, a fork of the river artificially created for defensive purposes in the early decades of the 14th century gives rise to Lambretto, which is joined to the main course Lambro at its exit to the south from the ancient circle of medieval walls ( Monza ) ( now completely demolished ).

From the gardens of the Royal Villa it is possible to access Monza Park.

According to this legend, the medieval name of Monza, " Modoetia ", is derived from these two words.

In the 12th century, it is estimated that the city of Monza had about 7000 inhabitants.

The following year, Lothair guaranteed the independence of the clergy of Monza from Milan: Monza regained its autonomy, which is not limited to the feudal government of lands and goods, but also extended to the spiritual realm: while it is denied to others, the archpriest of Monza was confirmed as having the authority to command the clergy of his church ( year 1150 ).

During this period, the city is again linked to the political choices, to Milan in 1221 that supports Monza, where the mayor had been excommunicated by the Archbishop of Milan, Enrico from Settala.

To support a second war against Frederick II, the Milanese borrowed a cup of gold from Monza ; for its return is necessary to resort to excommunication, which was imposed in 1254: the cup is returned, but missing 17 gems, as shown an inventory of 1275.

It was fate, however, that the treasure of the basilica still pass from hand to hand as a pledge as security for loans received: in 1273 is held at the Humble of St. Agatha ( the present church Carrobiolo ) in Monza in 1311 and is engaged in some bankers that safety will transfer to Avignon.

It also led to a flurry of railway construction that had started under Austrian partronage ( Venice – Milan ; Milan – Monza ) that made Milan the rail hub of northern Italy.

Patrese also outqualified Mansell at every race until the halfway point of the season at Silverstone, and provided much support for the Englishman at races such as Monza and Portugal.

In Sassari, with the painter Mario Delitala, also from Orani, Nivola had his artistic start, and soon the two worked together for the decoration of some spaces in the local university. He then moved to the Italian mainland, and in 1931 entered the ISIA, the state institute for Artistic Industry in Monza, near Milan.

Monza also hosts a Department of the University of Milan Bicocca, a Court of Justice and several offices of regional administration.

Under Berengar's reign, Monza enjoyed a certain degree of independence: it had its own system of weights and measures, and could also seize property and mark the deeds with their signatures.

Frederick declared that Monza was his property and also gave the Curraria ( i. e. the right to levy customs on the streets ), a right usually granted only to the city of " home room ".

Among the members of the delegation was also Martino Aliprandi, a resident of Milan, but belonging to an important family of Monza.

The choice of Monza was due not only to the beauty of the landscape, but also its strategic position and the fact of that it was connected to Vienna as well as for its proximity to Milan.

During the Five Days of Milan ( 22 – 23 March 1848 ) also rose Monza chasing the Austrian garrison regiment Geppert.

The First World War ( 1915 – 1918 ) also involved Monza as the other cities of Italy, at the end of the war the city has decided to recall its six hundred grandiose monument to the fallen ( 1932 ) by sculptor E. Pancera, located in the square Trento and Trieste ( the Old Market Square ).

The presence of the Belgian Jacky Ickx who had a minor role in 1967 ( driving only at the Nürburgring — also in an F2 car — and at Monza ) is also noteworthy in this regard.

Scarfiotti also won a race, the 1966 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, with an improved 36-valve engine.

Twining also notes the various allegorical meanings attributed to the three crowns of the papal tiara, but concludes that " it seems more likely that the symbolism is suggested by the idea that took shape in the 13th and 14th centuries that the Emperor was crowned with three crowns -- the silver crown of Germany at Aix-la-Chapelle, the iron crown of Lombardy at Milan or Monza and the golden imperial crown at Rome and therefore the Pope, too, should wear three crowns.

GM also replaced the Chevrolet Monza, introducing the 1982 Chevrolet Cavalier which was better received.

The Corvair range included a two-door coupe and a convertible, a four-door sedan, and four-door station wagon configurations, and also the more powerful Monza model ; and a passenger van, commercial van, and pickup derivatives.

Berengar was the only major benefactor of the church at Monza at this time and also gave the Cathedral of St. John in Monza a cross made in the same style as the Iron Crown, which is still preserved in the church's treasury.

Twining also mentions a relief plaque in the cathedral which appears to represent the coronation of Otto IV at Monza in 1209 as it was described by Morigias in 1345 and stresses the point that although four votive crowns are shown hanging above the altar, the crown which the archbishop is placing on the king's head bears no resemblance to the Iron Crown.

He also missed a one-day test in Monza, but was cleared to race in the following Grand Prix in Montreal.

Subsequent rebadged variants of the Vega ( marketed as " Woody "), including the Pontiac Astre Safari, Chevrolet Monza Estate and Pontiac Sunbird Safari, also offered simulated wood trim.

Monza is internationally known for the Autodromo Nazionale Monza motor racing circuit, home to the Italian Grand Prix, and previously to the Alfa Romeo team.

And as time progressed through the 1950s and 1960s, Spa was often known as the fastest circuit in Europe ( with the possible exception of Monza ).

# Margarete Karoline Fredericka Cecilie Auguste Amalie Josephine Elisabeth Maria Johanna ( b. Dresden, 24 May 1840 – d. Monza, 15 September 1858 ), known as Margarete ; married on 4 November 1856 to Archduke Carl Ludwig of Austria, her cousin.

Similarly the diadem of Constantine is asserted to be at Monza, and it has long been known as " the iron crown of Lombardy.

In art the subject is technically known as The Incredulity of Saint Thomas, and has been common since at least the 6th century, when it appears on the Monza ampullae.
