" Local music lovers paid for Mozart to visit Prague and hear the production ; he listened on 17 January 1787, and conducted it himself on the 22nd.

In the late 1950s, she recorded Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, opposite Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Giuseppe Taddei, conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini, and recitals of Mozart arias and coloratura arias with EMI, and then became an exclusive artist with RCA Victor with whom she recorded most of her best operatic roles.

The original scores, which dated from 1804 when the composer was twelve, were found in the Library of Congress in Washington D. C. Often transcribed for string orchestra, these sonatas reveal the young composer's affinity for Haydn and Mozart, already showing signs of operatic tendencies, punctuated by frequent rhythmic changes and dominated by clear, songlike melodies.

Carl Stamitz was the first son of Johann Stamitz ( 1717 – 1757 ), a violinist and composer of the pre-classical area who not only composed some of the best instrumental music ( symphonies, concertos ) between Bach and Mozart, but as leader and first violinist also turned the Mannheim court orchestra into the best one in Europe.

After his grandmother ’ s death, Glinka was moved to his maternal uncle ’ s estate some 10 km away, and was able to hear his uncle ’ s orchestra, whose repertoire included pieces by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.

Concertos and concert works for two pianos have been written by Bach ( two to four pianos, BWV 1060-65, actually harpsichord concertos, but often performed on pianos ), Mozart ( two, K 242 ( originally for three pianos and orchestra ) and K 365 ), Mendelssohn ( two, 1823-4 ), Bruch ( 1912 ), Béla Bartók ( 1927 / 1932, a reworking of his Sonata for two pianos and percussion ), Poulenc ( 1932 ), Arthur Benjamin ( 1938 ), Peter Mieg ( 1939-41 ), Darius Milhaud ( 1941 and 1951 ), Bohuslav Martinů ( 1943 ), Ralph Vaughan Williams ( c. 1946 ), Roy Harris ( 1946 ), Gian Francesco Malipiero ( two works, both 1957 ), Walter Piston ( 1959 ), Luciano Berio ( 1973 ), and Harald Genzmer ( 1990 ).

Apart from the Bach and Mozart examples, works for more than two pianos and orchestra are considerably rarer, but have been written by Carl Czerny ( Quatuor Concerto for four pianos and orchestra, op.

( Cannabich, one of the directors of the orchestra after the death of J. Stamitz, was also a good friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from the latter's visit to Mannheim in 1777 onwards.

Wolfgang Mozart composed 27 concertos for pianoforte and orchestra.

After several recordings of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven with the Gürzenich for a French subscription collection in the mid 1950s, he made no studio recordings for nearly two decades with the exception of an appearance with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on Decca Records, accompanying Wilhelm Backhaus in Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto ( his only recording with that orchestra ).

Days after the Stavisky riots in February 1934, and in the midst of the general strike, Boulanger resumed conducting and made her Paris debut with the orchestra of the École normale in a programme of Mozart, Bach and Jean Françaix.
