While nationalistic theory and practice during the colonial era and the First Republic of South Korea were class-based and movement specific forces, in the South Korea of recent times ( 1990s onward ) a more broad-based ( including middle-income classes ) sentiment has developed in the national ethos, the so called " New Nationalism.
