Route 35 just north of the Shark River ( New Jersey ) | Shark River bridge in Neptune Township, New Jersey | Neptune Township with New York City listed as the control city. Past the Shark River bridge, Route 35 becomes a four-lane divided highway that features an interchange with County Route 40A ( Memorial Drive ), crossing into Neptune City.

The route continues northwest through residential and commercial areas of Neptune City as a four-lane, undivided highway before heading north as a two-lane, undivided road called Morris Avenue.

Immediately past the exit, Route 33 borders Neptune City on the south and Neptune Township on the north for a brief stretch before completely re-entering Neptune Township.

Avon-by-the-Sea was incorporated as a borough by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 23, 1900, from portions of Neptune City.

It was later part of Ocean Township, which had seceded from Shrewsbury Township in 1849 and included at the time present-day Eatontown, Neptune Township, Neptune City, Avon-by-the-Sea, Bradley Beach, Asbury Park, Allenhurst, Deal, Long Branch, West Long Branch, Loch Arbour, Monmouth Beach, Sea Bright and Oceanport, along with Interlaken itself.

Portions of the township were taken to form Neptune City ( October 4, 1881 ), Bradley Beach ( March 13, 1893 ) and Ocean Grove ( April 5, 1920, until it was found unconstitutional and restored to Neptune Township as of June 16, 1921 ).

Neptune City is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States.

The Borough of Neptune City was incorporated on October 4, 1881, based on a referendum held on March 19, 1881.

The boundaries included all of present-day Neptune City, along with what is now Avon-by-the-Sea and the southern portion of Bradley Beach.

On March 13, 1907, the eastern portion of Neptune City was annexed to the Borough of Bradley Beach.

Neptune City borough is located at ( 40. 200211 ,- 74. 03362 ).

According to the United States Census Bureau, Neptune City borough had a total area of 0. 954 square miles ( 2. 470 km < sup > 2 </ sup >), all of which is land.

Neptune City is governed under the Borough form of New Jersey municipal government.

As a consequence there are four chimney-pieces by Algardi in the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, and in the gardens, the figures on the fountain of Neptune are also by him.

A classical Kuiper belt object, also called a cubewano ( " QB1-o ") is a low-eccentricity Kuiper belt object ( KBO ) that orbits beyond Neptune and is not controlled by an orbital resonance with Neptune.

There are also smaller but significant groups of resonant trans-Neptunian objects occupying the 1: 1 ( Neptune trojans ), 3: 5, 4: 7, 1: 2 ( twotinos ) and 2: 5 resonances, among others, with respect to Neptune.

The most notable planetary rings known in the Solar System are those around Saturn, but the other three gas giants of the Solar System ( Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune ) also possess ring systems of their own.

( Uranus and Neptune were also Greek and Roman gods, but neither planet was known in Antiquity because of their low brightness.

A trans-Neptunian object ( TNO ; also written transneptunian object ) is any object in the Solar System that orbits the Sun at a greater average distance ( semi-major axis ) than Neptune.

** Classical Kuiper belt objects ( also called cubewanos ) have no such resonance, moving on almost circular orbits, unperturbed by Neptune.

Tidal interactions also cause Triton's orbit, already closer to Neptune than the Moon's to Earth, to slowly decay further ; predictions are that some 3. 6 billion years from now, Triton will pass within Neptune's Roche limit.

Thought to be the point of origin for the majority of short-period comets observed from Earth, it is also home to several large, planet-like bodies including Pluto, which is now recognized as the largest in a population of Kuiper belt objects ( the plutinos ) locked in orbital step with Neptune.

It comprises more than 99. 5 % of all the mass known to orbit Neptune, including the planet's rings and twelve other known moons, and is also more massive than all known moons in the Solar System smaller than itself combined.

The district also provides students with the opportunities to attend other high schools, including the Monmouth County Vocational School District Academies which include: the Marine Academy of Science and Technology ( MAST ) located on Sandy Hook, High Technology High School located on the campus of Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, the Academy of Allied Health & Science in Neptune Township and affiliated with the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, the Communications High School located on the property of Wall High School, and Biotechnology High School located in Freehold Township.

Neptune City also provides the students with the opportunity to attend the Performing Arts Program at Red Bank Regional High School for Performing Arts in Little Silver.

A lottery system for entry into the Neptune High School and an application program with Red Bank Regional High School or any of the schools in the Monmouth County Vocational School District is also an option for students.

Like Poseidon, Neptune was worshipped by the Romans also as a god of horses, under the name Neptunus Equester, a patron of horse-racing.

This feature has been preserved particularly well in the case of Neptune who was definitely a god of springs, lakes and rivers before becoming also a god of the sea, as is testified by the numerous findings of inscriptions mentioning him in the proximity of such locations.

Servius the grammarian also explicitly states Neptune is in charge of all the rivers, springs and waters.

As of 2011, it owns approximately 20 percent of Keppel Corporation, 54 percent of Singapore Telecommunications, 55 percent of Singapore Airlines, and 66 percent of Neptune Orient Lines ( see Temasek Holdings ' investments ).

As of 2004, it owns stakes in many large foreign companies, including Standard Chartered, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, ICICI Bank, Global Crossing, as well as many of Singapore's largest companies, such as SingTel, DBS Bank, Singapore Airlines, PSA International, SMRT Corporation, Singapore Power, Neptune Orient Lines and Mediacorp.

In front of it is the Neptunbrunnen, a fountain featuring a mythological group of Tritons, personifications of the four main Prussian rivers and Neptune on top of it.
