She was the second granddaughter of the Emperor Augustus, sister-in-law, stepdaughter and daughter-in-law of the Emperor Tiberius, mother of the Emperor Caligula, maternal second cousin and sister-in-law of the Emperor Claudius and the maternal grandmother of the Emperor Nero.

Livia was the first Roman Empress and was Augustus ’ third wife ( from Livia ’ s first marriage to praetor Tiberius Nero, she had two sons: the emperor Tiberius and the general Nero Claudius Drusus.

Germanicus was the first son born to Antonia Minor and Nero Claudius Drusus.

Apart from being the late maternal grandmother of Nero, she was the late paternal grandmother of Princess Julia Drusilla, the child of Caligula.

Through Nero, Agrippina was the paternal great-grandmother of Claudia Augusta, ( Nero's only child through his second marriage to Poppaea Sabina ).

She was a great-granddaughter of the Emperor Augustus, great-niece and adoptive granddaughter of the Emperor Tiberius, sister of the Emperor Caligula, niece and fourth wife of the Emperor Claudius, and mother of the Emperor Nero.

His mother was Antonia Minor and his father was the general Nero Claudius Drusus.

Germanicus ’ father, Drusus the Elder, was the second son of the Empress Livia Drusilla by her first marriage to praetor Tiberius Nero, and was the Emperor Tiberius ’ s younger brother and Augustus ’ s stepson.

Nero was Agrippina's only natural child.

Seneca was later called back from exile to be a tutor to Nero.

Lucius ’ name was changed to Nero Claudius Caesar Drusus Germanicus and he became Claudius ’ s adopted son, heir and recognised successor.

For instance, in 51, Agrippina ordered the execution of Britannicus ’ tutor Sosibius because he had confronted her and was outraged by Claudius ’ adoption of Nero and his choice of Nero as successor, instead of choosing his own son Britannicus.

Britannicus was secretly poisoned on Nero ’ s orders during a banquet in February 55.

With the reasoning that a divorce from Octavia and a marriage to Poppaea was not politically feasible with Agrippina alive, Nero decided to kill Agrippina.

Additionally, Suetonius reveals that Poppaea's husband, Otho, was not sent away by Nero until after Agrippina's death in 59, making it highly unlikely that already married Poppaea would be pressing Nero.

According to Suetonius, Nero was annoyed at his mother being too watchful and tried three times to poison Agrippina, but she took the antidotes in time and survived.

Nero then ordered captains of a different boat to ram this boat while Agrippina was aboard.

After Agrippina's death, Nero viewed her corpse and commented how beautiful she was, according to some.

He was born in Rome, Italia, and was named either Nero Claudius Drusus after his father or Tiberius Claudius Nero after his uncle.

Like his uncle Caligula before him, Nero was also a direct descendant of Augustus Caesar, a fact which made his ascension to the throne much easier and smoother than it had been for Tiberius or Claudius.

Nero was not expected to become Emperor because his maternal uncle, Caligula, had begun his reign at the age of 25 with enough time to produce his own heir.

By the time Lateranus was eventually executed, in 65 for his part in a conspiracy against Nero, his uncle was probably dead and could no longer help him.

At birth, Germanicus had been known as either Nero Claudius Drusus after his father or Tiberius Claudius Nero after his uncle.

The six children who survived to adulthood were the sons: Nero Caesar, Drusus Caesar and Caligula born as Gaius Julius Caesar Germanicus and the daughters Julia Agrippina or Agrippina the Younger, Julia Drusilla and Julia Livilla.

She had three elder brothers, Nero Caesar, Drusus Caesar and the future Emperor Caligula, and two younger sisters, Julia Drusilla and Julia Livilla.

Nero even threatened his mother he would abdicate the throne and would go to live on the Greek Island of Rhodes, a place where Tiberius had lived after divorcing Julia the Elder.

The couple had six children: Nero Caesar, Drusus Caesar, the Emperor Caligula, the Empress Agrippina the Younger, Julia Drusilla, and Julia Livilla.

Due to his devotion to her, Messalina was able to manipulate Claudius into ordering the exile or execution of various people: the Roman philosopher Seneca the Younger ; Claudius ’ nieces Julia Livilla and Julia ; Marcus Vinicius ( husband of Julia Livilla ); consul Gaius Asinius Pollio II ( see Vipsania Agrippina ); the elder Poppaea Sabina ( mother of Empress Poppaea Sabina, second wife of Nero ); consul Decimus Valerius Asiaticus ; and Polybius.

A third colony was settled there by Nero, at which time it assumed the title of Concordia ; hence we find it bearing, in inscriptions of the reign of Septimius Severus, the titles Colonia Julia Augusta Concordia Felix Beneventum.

With Augustus being the father of only one daughter ( Julia the Elder by Scribonia ), Livia revealed herself to be an ambitious mother and soon started to push her own sons Tiberius and Nero Claudius Drusus into power.

They were ( from oldest to youngest ) Nero Caesar, Drusus Caesar, the Emperor Caligula, the Empress Agrippina the Younger, Julia Drusilla and Julia Livilla.

( Claudia ) Livia Julia ( Classical Latin: ) ( c. 13 BC – 31 A. D .) was the only daughter of Nero Claudius Drusus and Antonia Minor and elder sister of the Roman Emperor Claudius and younger sister of the general Germanicus, and thus the paternal aunt of the emperor Caligula and maternal great-aunt of emperor Nero.

Two of his sisters, Agrippina the Younger ( mother of the emperor Nero ) and Julia Livilla were exiled to Ponza in AD 39 for their complicity in a plot to overthrow Caligula.

His siblings included two brothers Julius Caesar ( Caligula ) and Nero ( son of Germanicus ) | Nero and three sisters ( Julia Livilla, Julia Drusilla, and Agrippina the Younger ).

His parents were the general Nero Claudius Drusus ( son of Empress Livia Drusilla, third wife of Emperor Augustus ) and Antonia Minor ( the younger daughter of the triumvir Mark Antony and Octavia Minor, sister of Augustus ).

Drusilla was a first cousin of Roman General Germanicus and his brother the Roman Emperor Claudius and a second cousin of Roman Emperor Caligula, Roman Empress Agrippina the Younger, Roman Empress Valeria Messalina and Roman Emperor Nero.

Drusilla was named in honor of the Roman Empress Livia Drusilla or her late son the Roman General Nero Claudius Drusus.

Drusus was the youngest son of Roman Empress Livia Drusilla from her marriage to Tiberius Claudius Nero.

Drusilla also had two sisters ( Julia Livilla and the Empress Agrippina the Younger ) and two other brothers ( Nero and Drusus ).

Caesar Augustus's third wife Livia Drusilla ( subsequently " Julia Augusta ") had previously borne two children by her first husband, Tiberius Claudius Nero: Tiberius and Drusus.

Lastly, he was a paternal great-uncle of the Emperor Caligula, Julia's grandson by Agrippa, and the Empress Agrippina the Younger, Julia's eldest granddaughter, and Claudius's niece and fourth wife, as well as other children fathered by Germanicus and his wife Agrippina the Elder: Nero Caesar, Drusus Caesar, Julia Drusilla, and Julia Livilla.
