Narcisa de Jesús Martillo was born on October 29, 1832 in the small village of St. Joseph in Nobol, Daule, Ecuador.

In 1955, her practically uncorrupted body was transferred from Peru to Guayaquil, and in 1972 her remains were returned to Nobol.

On August 22, 1998, a shrine in her honour was dedicated in Nobol, where her uncorrupt body remains to this day.
