The US Navy, developing the Norden, made plans for most of its new aircraft to be able to level bomb.

The popularity of this sketch made Muir and Norden realise that they were on to something.

In 1965, Norden wrote, narrated and starred in a featurette jointly made by the James Bond producers and The Ford Motor Company.

However, sketches of the Sphinx by the Dane Frederic Louis Norden, made in 1737 and published in 1755, illustrate the Sphinx already without a nose.

The 1607 edition included for the first time a full set of English county maps, based on the surveys of Christopher Saxton and John Norden, and engraved by William Kip and William Hole ( who also engraved the fine title page ).

The Speculum Britanniae ( 1596 ) of the Tudor era English cartographer and topographer John Norden ( 1548 – 1625 ) had an alphabetical list of places throughout England with headings showing their administrative hundreds and referenced to attached maps.

Norden also executed maps of Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex, for the fifth edition ( 1607 ) of Camden's Britannia ; and maps of Middlesex, Essex, Sussex, Surrey and Cornwall for John Speed ( 1610 ).

In this book Norden claimed that 1, 800 politicians and other prominents in West Germany held prominent positions in Germany prior to 1945, became rich etc.

A special show was recorded on 14 May 2006 as a ' farewell tour ' to all his shows over the years, called All the Best from Denis Norden, which was shown on 2 January 2007.

For TIFH, Muir and Norden wrote the phase, " Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me ", later used by Kenneth Williams in Carry on Cleo.

The Norden remains one of the best known bombsights of all time.

The Norden attacked all of these problems.

As all of the controls were located on the right, and had to be operated while sighting through the telescope, another problem with the Norden is that the bombardier could only adjust either the vertical or horizontal aim at a given time, his other arm was normally busy holding himself up above the telescope.

However, it was not an original Carry On joke at all: scriptwriter Talbot Rothwell requested the use of the gag from its creators, Frank Muir and Denis Norden, who had written it for BBC radio comedy show Take It From Here.
