Operation Ariel ( sometimes Operation Aerial ) was the name given to the World War II evacuation of Allied forces from ports in western France, from 15 – 25 June 1940, following the military collapse in the Battle of France against Nazi Germany.

It followed Operation Dynamo, the evacuation from Dunkirk and Operation Cycle, the evacuation from Le Havre, which finished on 13 June.

In May 1940, Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsey directed the evacuation of French and British soldiers from Dunkirk, code-named Operation Dynamo, from his headquarters in the cliff tunnels.
