Osakis Township is a township in Douglas County, Minnesota, United States.

The name Osakis is thought to mean place of the Sauk and commemorates a small group of Sauk Indians who lived near the lake in the early 19th century.

The main part of Osakis is in Douglas County ; only a small part of the city extends into Todd County.

Osakis is situated on the southwest shore of Lake Osakis, on Minnesota State Highway 27.

Osakis is about one mile ( 1. 6 km ) from exit 114 of Interstate 94.

It issues from Lake Osakis on the Todd County line and flows east through Guernsey Lake, Little Sauk Lake and Juergens Lake, then south through Sauk Lake and past Sauk Centre, southeast past Melrose and Richmond, then northeast through Cedar Island Lake and Zumwalde Lake, past Cold Spring and Waite Park to the Mississippi River 2 mi ( 3. 2 km ) north of St.

Highway 27 connects Alexandria to Nelson, Osakis and to western Minnesota.
