" Mino Pecorelli, who was on Licio Gelli's list of P2 members discovered in 1980, was assassinated on March 20, 1979.

Calvi had been a member of Licio Gelli's illegal masonic lodge, P2, and members of P2 referred to themselves as frati neri or " black friars ".

Outside Italy, P2 was also active in Uruguay, Brazil and in Argentina, with Raúl Alberto Lastiri, Argentina's interim president ( between July 13, 1973 to October 12, 1973 ) during the height of the " Dirty War " among its members.

It was suspected by investigative journalists that some of the plundered funds went to P2 or to its members.

The Grande Oriente d ' Italia, after taking disciplinary action against members with P2 connections, distanced itself from Gelli's lodge.

The list should be contemplated with some caution, as it is considered to be a compilation of P2 members and the contents of Gelli's Rolodex.

Many on the list were apparently never asked if they wanted to join P2, and it is not known to what extent the list includes members who were formally initiated into the lodge.

The P2 lodge did undoubtedly have some form of power in Italy, given the public prominence of its members, and many observers still consider it to be extremely strong.

The year 1992 also saw the beginning of the trial of 16 members of the P2 Masonic Lodge, which included charges of conspiracy against the state, espionage, and the revelation of state secrets.

In April 1994, Gelli received a 17-year sentence for divulging state secrets and slandering the investigation, while the court threw out the charge that P2 members conspired against the state ; Gelli's sentence was reduced, and he was placed under house arrest two years later.

Several members of the Argentine military junta have been found to be P2 members, such as Raúl Alberto Lastiri, Argentina's interim president from July 13, 1973 until October 12, 1973, Emilio Massera, part of Jorge Videla's military junta from 1976 to 1978, and José López Rega, the infamous founder of the Argentine Anticommunist Alliance (" Triple A ").

He has been also listed among the members of the pseudo-Masonic illegal lodge called P2, accused by the magistrates to be a criminal organization.

Lastiri was on Licio Gelli's list of P2 members, a masonic lodge involved in Italy's strategy of tension, discovered in 1980.

Both Calvi and Sindona were members of the P2 Lodge.

On 19 July 2005, Licio Gelli, the grand master of the Propaganda Due or P2 masonic lodge, received a notification – required by Italian law – informing him that he was formally under investigation on charges of ordering the murder of Calvi along with Giuseppe Calò, Ernesto Diotallevi, Flavio Carboni and Carboni's Austrian ex-girlfriend, Manuela Kleinszig.

During the years that the lodge was headed by Licio Gelli, P2 was implicated in numerous Italian crimes and mysteries, including the collapse of the Vatican-affiliated Banco Ambrosiano, the murders of journalist Mino Pecorelli and banker Roberto Calvi, and corruption cases within the nationwide bribe scandal Tangentopoli.

The Grand Orient of Italy officially expelled Gelli and the P2 Lodge in 1976.

As grand master of the Propaganda Due ( P2 ) masonic lodge, Gelli had ties with very high level personalities in Italy and abroad, in particular in Argentina.

According to a letter sent by Gelli to César de la Vega, a P2 member and Argentine ambassador to the UNESCO, Gelli commissioned P2 member Federico Carlos Barttfeld to be transferred from the consulate of Hamburg to the Argentine embassy in Rome.

On November 23, 1995, the Court of Cassation ( Corte di Cassazione ) convicted Licio Gelli ( grand master of P2 ), Francesco Pazienza and SISMI officers Pietro Musumeci and Giuseppe Belmonte of diverting investigations in relation to the Bologna Massacre.

Gelli was expelled from GOI freemasonry on October 31, 1981, and the P2 scandal provoked the fall of Arnaldo Forlani's cabinet in June 1981

Gelli has been implicated in Aldo Moro's murder, since the Italian chief of intelligence, accused of negligence, was a piduista ( P2 member ).

In 2003, Gelli told La Repubblica that it seemed that the P2 " democratic rebirth plan " was being implemented by Silvio Berlusconi:

Such relationships became closer in 1976, when Sindona's banks went bankrupt: Licio Gelli, chief of the P2 lodge, proposed a plan to save the Banca Privata Italiana to Andreotti, then Minister of Defense.

In the aftermath of the investigations it appeared that many of them were connected through the secret P2 lodge ( Propaganda Due ) of Licio Gelli.

In 1974, Vito Miceli, P2 member, chief of the SIOS ( Servizio Informazioni ), Army Intelligence's Service from 1969 and SID's head from 1970 to 1974, was arrested on charges of " conspiracy against the state " concerning investigations about Rosa dei venti, a state-infiltrated group involved in terrorist acts.

Propaganda Due (), or P2, was a Masonic lodge operating under the jurisdiction of the Grand Orient of Italy from 1945 to 1976 ( when its charter was withdrawn ), and a pseudo-Masonic, " black ", or " covert " lodge operating illegally ( in contravention of Article 18 of the Constitution of Italy banning secret associations ) from 1976 to 1981.

The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, headed by Anselmi, concluded that the P2 lodge was a secret criminal organization.

In 1981 the newspaper was involved in the P2 scandal ; the secret Italian Freemason lodge had the newspaper's editor Franco Di Bella and the former owner Angelo Rizzoli on its member lists.

During his presidency, the list of who belonged to the secret lodge P2 was published.

In 1981 the Corriere della Sera was hit by a scandal when chief editor Franco Di Bella was outed as a member of secret masonic lodge P2.

The fact that Honda had been developing the robots was kept secret from the public until the announcement of the Honda P2 in 1996.
