It also attracted a wider crowd of mostly younger fans, some of whom occasionally performed with the group, including Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Geoff Bradford, Rod Stewart, John Mayall and Jimmy Page.

In 1966, Moon worked with Yardbirds guitarist Jeff Beck, session man Nicky Hopkins, and future Led Zeppelin members Page and John Paul Jones to record an instrumental, " Beck's Bolero ", released as a single-double later that year.

Formed as the New Yardbirds in 1968, the band consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist / keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham.

The group never formed, although Page, Beck and Moon did record a song together in 1966, " Beck's Bolero ", in a session that also included bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones.

When Dreja dropped out of the project to become a photographer ( he would later take the photograph that appeared on the back of Led Zeppelin's debut album ), John Paul Jones, at the suggestion of his wife, contacted Page about the vacant position.

Having known Jones from his session days, Page agreed to let him join as the final member.

On 13 July 1985, Page, Plant and Jones reunited for the Live Aid concert at JFK Stadium, Philadelphia, playing a short set featuring drummers Tony Thompson and Phil Collins and bassist Paul Martinez.

The result was another disjointed performance, after Plant and Page had argued immediately prior to coming on stage about whether to play " Stairway to Heaven ", and with the complete loss of Jones ' keyboards on the live television feed.

At the induction ceremony, the band's inner rift became apparent when Jones joked upon accepting his award, " Thank you, my friends, for finally remembering my phone number ", causing consternation and awkward looks from Page and Plant.

The King of Sweden presented the prize to Plant, Page, and Jones, along with John Bonham's daughter, in Stockholm in May 2006.

Jones, Page and Bonham looked for a replacement for Plant, considering singers including Steven Tyler and Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, but in January 2009 it was confirmed that the project had been abandoned.

In the later stages of the band's career, Page took a back seat in composition and Jones became increasingly important in producing music, often composed on the keyboard.

The three surviving members ( Page, Plant, and Jones ) were named as 2012 recipients of Kennedy Center Honors.

For their three New York performances, the band members wore exactly the same clothes to facilitate seamless editing of the film, except for John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page who wore different sets of attire on some of the nights, which created continuity problems.

Shortly before hiring Jones, Harris and Meehan had just had a Number 1 hit with " Diamonds " ( a track on which Jones ' bandmate-to-be Jimmy Page had played.

During his time as a session player, Jones often crossed paths with guitarist Jimmy Page, a fellow session veteran.

In June 1966, Page joined The Yardbirds, and in 1967 Jones contributed to that band's Little Games album.

The following winter, during the sessions for Donovan's The Hurdy Gurdy Man, Jones expressed to Page a desire to be part of any projects the guitarist might be planning.

Jones, at the suggestion of his wife, asked Page about the vacant position, and the guitarist eagerly invited Jones to collaborate.

In 1985, Jones was asked by director Michael Winner to provide the soundtrack for the film, Scream for Help, with Jimmy Page appearing on two tracks.

Page, Plant and Jones, as well as John Bonham's son Jason, closed the event.

The production was directed by Trevor Nunn, with choreography by Lynne Page, sets and costumes by David Farley and new orchestrations by Jason Carr.

In 1995, Led Zeppelin were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Plant performed at the induction show with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Jason Bonham, Neil Young, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, performing spirited versions of " Bring It On Home ", " Honeybee ", and " When the Levee Breaks ".

Robert Plant guests on one track, " The Only One ", while John Bonham's son Jason drums with Page for the first time on record.

Complicating matters is beachfront bartender Jack ( Jason Lee ), whom Page meets without her mother's knowledge while attempting to go after a target she pointed out earlier ( a doctor who inherited money from an uncle ; Max rejected him on the grounds that he was a " momma's boy " as he still lived with his mother ).

On Valentine's Day 1974, Moon performed on drums with Jimmy Page, Ronnie Lane, Max Middleton and fellow drummer John Bonham on acoustic guitar for the gig premiering Roy Harper's album Valentine.

Robert Plant asked Page if he had a drummer, and Page said that he was still looking for one, and Robert brought him to see John Bonham in action.

Unable to tour, he headed to the Channel Island of Jersey to spend August and September recuperating, with Bonham and Page in tow.

It also featured a 1976 John Bonham drum instrumental with electronic effects added by Jimmy Page, called " Bonzo's Montreux ".

Plant would then add lyrics before Page and Bonham developed their parts.

Sutch's album Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends was named in a 1998 BBC poll as the worst album of all time, a status it also held in Colin Larkin's book The Top 1000 Albums of All Time, despite the fact that Jimmy Page, John Bonham, Jeff Beck, Noel Redding and Nicky Hopkins performed on it and helped write it.

Plant brought along John Bonham as drummer, and they were joined by John Paul Jones, who had previously worked with Page as a studio musician.

After the break-up of The Yardbirds, guitarist Jimmy Page was forming a new band when he recruited Robert Plant, who in turn suggested Bonham.

However, upon seeing Bonham drum for Tim Rose at a club in Hampstead, north London, in July 1968, Page and manager Peter Grant were instantly convinced that he was the perfect fit for the new project, first known as the New Yardbirds and later as Led Zeppelin.

In fact, Page once admitted to letting Bonham use a double bass drum in an early demo of " Communication Breakdown " but claimed he scratched the track because of Bonham's " over-use " of it.

In 1969 Bonham appeared on The Family Dogg's A Way of Life, with Page and Jones.
