Perpetua and Felicity ( believed to have died 7 March 203 ) are Christian martyrs of the 3rd century.

As Perpetua and Felicity were equal in martyrdom despite differences in class, they made the dramatic statement that Christianity transcended social structure.

Further evidence for Montanism is that Perpetua and Felicity may have separated themselves from their partners in accordance with Montanist teachings, which allowed and sometimes even encouraged women to leave non-Christian husbands in favor of celibate lives devoted to preaching the Gospel.

In the 1969 reform of the Roman Catholic Calendar of Saints the feast of Saint Thomas Aquinas was moved, and that of Saint Perpetua and Felicity was restored to their traditional 7 March date, but traditionalist Catholics continue to follow the 1908-1969 General Roman Calendar.

The region produced figures such as Christian Church writer Tertullian ( c. 155 – c. 202 ); and Christian Church martyrs or leading figures such as Perpetua and Felicity ( martyrs, c. 200 CE ); St Cyprian of Carthage (+ 258 ); St. Monica ; her son the philosopher St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo I (+ 430 ) ( 1 ); and St Julia of Carthage ( 5th century.

In a second vision, Perpetua sees her brother Dinocrates, who had died unbaptized from cancer at the early age of seven ( vii ).

But Saint Perpetua, who was martyred in 202, believed herself to have been encouraged in a vision to pray for her brother, who had died in his eighth year, almost certainly unbaptized ; and a later vision assured her that her prayer was answered and he had been translated from punishment.

Some critics noted the similarity of his death to that of his heroine Perpetua, who also died while awaiting treatment in one of the country's overburdened hospitals.

An in-situ example of Gill's design and personal cutting of his Perpetua typeface can be found in the nave of Poling church in West Sussex, on a wall plaque commemorating the life of Sir Harry Johnston.

The Perpetua design was followed by the Gill Sans typeface in 1927 – 30, based on the sans serif lettering originally designed for the London Underground.

Included among the topics on which he wrote are: the Apology of Aristides ( 1891 ), the Didache, Philo, the Diatessaron, the Christian Apologists, Acts of Perpetua, The Odes and Psalms of Solomon ( 1906 ), the Gospel of Peter, and other Western and Syriac texts, and numerous works on biblical manuscripts.

Bands worth mentioning include Smitten ; Cadena Perpetua with their well-crafted and tight songs ; Romapagana certainly unusual and inspiring with their cosmopolitan mix of language and dinamic sound ; Shaila who also features many English lyric songs, unusual for Argentine rock ; and veterans 2 Minutos who soldier on.

The main typeface used on the plaque seems to be Gill's Perpetua, which he designed in 1925 but did not release until 1929.

The feast day of Saints Perpetua and Felicitas, 7 March, was celebrated even outside Africa, and is entered in the Philocalian Calendar, the 4th-century calendar of martyrs venerated publicly at Rome.

Among the Roman martyrs, mention is already made in the Ferial of some African martyrs ( March 7, Perpetua and Felicitas ; September 14, Cyprian ).

In 1925 he designed the Perpetua typeface, with the uppercase based upon monumental Roman inscriptions, for Morison, who was working for the Monotype Corporation.

In Carthage a magnificent basilica was afterwards erected over the tomb of the martyrs, the Basilica Maiorum, where an ancient inscription bearing the names of Perpetua and Felicitas has been found.

Another memorable international accomplishment of Guadalupe Victoria was his support for the Pan American Union proposed by Simón Bolívar, which resulted in the signing of an agreement called the Tratado de Unión, Liga y Confederación Perpetua ( Treaty of Union, League and Perpetual Confederation ) between the republics of Colombia, Central America, Perú and the United Mexican States.

The trail climbs from downtown Yachats to the summit of Cape Perpetua where it links with the extensive trail system of the Siuslaw National Forest.

The Roosevelt Memorial Highway ( now Highway 101 ), carved out of the rock of Cape Perpetua in 1931, changed all this by opening up a route from the town of Florence.

At the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, the visitor center hosts Whale Watching Weeks in winter and in spring.

Generally, whales are in the Cape Perpetua area from July through mid-November.
