Dividing the Kittatinny Valley ( and the Ridge and Valley Province ) from the Highlands region is a narrow fault of Hardyston Quartzite.

Surrounded by cliffs of Baraboo Quartzite, the village is two miles south of a notable rock formation located in Ableman Gorge, Van Hise Rock, which was used to explain the processes of structural geology by University of Wisconsin-Madison professor Charles R. Van Hise.

Quartzite ( from German Quarzit ) is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock which was originally sandstone.

Quartzite is very resistant to chemical weathering and often forms ridges and resistant hilltops.

Quartzite is also found in the Morenci Copper Mine in Arizona.

This thick sequence ( c. 800 m ) of dolostones with subordinate limestones and chert is softer than the surrounding hills which are formed of more resistant Lewisian Gneiss or Torridonian sandstones, sometimes capped by Cambrian Quartzite.

The side road to Aguereberry Point successively traverses the shaly Johnnie Formation, the white Stirling Quartzite, and dark quartzites of the Wood Canyon Formation ; at the Point itself is the great light-colored band of Zabriskie Quartzite dipping away toward Death Valley.

The Concord Mountains is a group name applied to a complex system of mountain ranges in northwest Victoria Land comprising Everett Range, Mirabito Range, King Range, Leitch Massif, East Quartzite Range and West Quartzite Range.

The underlying rock in the peninsula is mostly of Dalradian meta-sedimentary rocks, which have been exposed by weathering and erosion over the millennia There are areas of Granodiorite igneous rocks across the northern end of the peninsula from Ballywhoriskey to Fanad Head, but the greater part of Fanad consist of Middle-Dalradian Quartzite and some Pellite rocks with local occurrences of Schists and Tillites – the latter mostly concentrated around the northern inlet of Mulroy Bay.

The cliffs around Fanad Head are of exposed Grandiorite, whereas the higher ground running south from Fanad Head to Portsalon is a band of Quartzite.

Knockalla Mountain is also formed of Quartzite.

Prominent peaks, from left to right, are Mount Clark, Gray Peak, and Red Peak ; the bump on Clark's left side is Quartzite Peak.

The artefact weighs and is made from polished Quartzite, with a bore to take a shaft.

It should be Quartzite, after the mineral quartzite.

Blocks of Quartzite can be found across the downlands of Southern Dorset and these sarsons have been used in the some of the local prehistoric monuments.

The high walls of Wilpena Pound are formed by the outcropping beds of the eponymous Pound Quartzite in a synclinal structure.
