Sinatra left Capitol to found his own record label, Reprise Records in 1961 ( finding success with albums such as Ring-a-Ding-Ding !, Sinatra at the Sands and Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim ), toured internationally, was a founding member of the Rat Pack and fraternized with celebrities and statesmen, including John F. Kennedy.

He is scheduled to direct the upcoming revival of Damn Yankees at Reprise!

Following the termination of the Capitol contract in 1969, the band's new contract with Reprise Records ( brokered by Van Dyke Parks, then employed as a multimedia executive at the company ) stipulated Brian Wilson's proactive involvement with the band in all albums — a factor that would become hugely problematic for the band in the years to come.

When the album itself was rejected by Reprise, the song " Sail On, Sailor " ( a collaborative, Brian Wilson-led effort dating from 1971 ) was inserted at the instigation of Van Dyke Parks and released as the lead single ; it promptly garnered a considerable amount of FM radio play, became a minor chart hit, and entered the band's live sets as a concert staple.

The band was also featured, along with a 70-piece orchestra, on the live album “ An Evening of Magic ,” which was recorded at the Hollywood Bowl on July 16, 1978, at the height of Mangione ’ s success from “ Feels So Good .” Performances of material new and old included versions of “ Main Squeeze ,” “ Hill Where the Lord Hides ” and “ Chase the Clouds Away .” Mangione opened and closed the show with “ Feels So Good ” and its “ Reprise ” version.

While at Reprise he produced albums by Jennifer Warnes ( her third, Jennifer ), Chunky, Novi & Ernie, and The Modern Lovers, their first, which Reprise chose not to release: it subsequently appeared on Beserkley Records, the first of a number of important Cale-produced protopunk records.

In September 2011, several layoffs took place at Reprise Records.

Their reputation had fallen sharply in the US since 1967, but Mo Ostin decided to sign them to Reprise Records in November ( reportedly on Van Dyke Parks ' urging ) despite Brian Wilson's personal attempts at sabotage by painting his face green before meeting with label executives.
