SETI @ home was conceived by David Gedye along with Craig Kasnoff and is a popular volunteer distributed computing project that was launched by the University of California, Berkeley in May 1999.

Any individual can become involved with SETI research by downloading the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing ( BOINC ) software program, attaching to the SETI @ home project, and allowing the program to run as a background process that uses idle computer power.

The SETI @ home program itself runs signal analysis on a " work unit " of data recorded from the central 2. 5 MHz wide band of the SERENDIP IV instrument.

After computation on the work unit is complete, the results are then automatically reported back to SETI @ home servers at UC Berkeley.

As of June 28, 2009 the SETI @ home project has over 180, 000 active participants volunteering a total of over 290, 000 computers.

These computers give SETI @ home an average computational power of 617 teraFLOPS.

As of 2010, after 10 years of data collection, SETI @ home has listened to that one frequency at every point of over 67 percent of the sky observable from Arecibo with a least 3 scans ( out of the goal of 9 scans ), which covers about 20 percent of the full celestial sphere.

Although other volunteering projects such as Zooniverse credit users for discoveries, there is currently no crediting or early notification by SETI @ Home following the discovery of a signal.

The processes of protein folding and binding can be simulated using such technique as molecular mechanics, in particular, molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo, which increasingly take advantage of parallel and distributed computing ( Folding @ home project ; molecular modeling on GPU ).

Central servers are typically used for listing potential peers ( Tor ), coordinating their activities ( Folding @ home ), and searching ( Napster, eMule ).

Similarly, Rosetta @ home is a distributed computing project for predicting ( or translating ) protein structures.

Stanford University's Folding @ home project is a distributed computing research effort which uses its approximately 5 petaFLOPS (~ 10 x86 petaFLOPS ) of computing power to attempt to model the tertiary ( and quaternary ) structures of proteins, as well as other aspects of how and why proteins fold into the inordinately complex and varied shapes they take.

Folding @ home allows for the modelling of disease states that are not as easily induced, without the need for test animals.

Due to its enormous flexibility, which has only briefly been discussed here, coupled with its ability to improve over time, Folding @ home and projects like it are quickly becoming indispensable tools among researchers from a broad variety of disciplines.

To date, over 78 scientific papers have been published on discoveries that relied on Folding @ home.

Den Bosch is also home to the European Ceramic Work Centre, currently branded as Sundaymorning @ ekwc.

There are distributed computing projects which use idle CPU or GPU time of personal computers to solve problems such as protein folding or prediction of protein structure, one prominent example being the Folding @ home project.

Top7 was featured as the RCSB Protein Data Bank's ' Molecule of the Month ' in October 2005, and a superposition of the respective cores ( residues 60-79 ) of its predicted and X-ray crystal structures are featured in the Rosetta @ home logo.

The centre is popularly known as @ Bristol, due to the appearance of its logo.

In Europe there is a home composting standard and associated logo that enables consumers to identify and dispose of packaging in their compost heap.

This version of the script logo has been on the front of the away jerseys since 2001 and the home ones since 2004. The Orioles began the 2008 season in a rebuilding mode under President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail.

The home cap and batting helmet are navy blue with a red bill and features the Chief Wahoo logo on the front.

Script " Indians " is located across the front of the jersey in the same fashion as the home uniform ( red lettering with a white outline ); the Chief Wahoo logo is on the left sleeve.

Since taking over the franchise, Attanasio has worked hard to build bridges with Milwaukee baseball fans, including giving away every seat to the final home game of 2005 free of charge and bringing back the classic " ball and glove " logo of the club's glory days on " Retro Friday " home games, during which they also wear versions of the team's old pinstriped uniforms.
