Maximilian Emanuel founded in 1726 the Royal Order of Saint George for the Defense of the Immaculate Conception, a dynastic Order of the Royal House of Bavaria.

Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe was born Raymund Kolbe on 8 January 1894 in Zduńska Wola, in the Kingdom of Poland, which was a part of the Russian Empire.

Saint Maximilian composed the Immaculata prayer as a prayer of consecration to the Immaculata, i. e. the immaculately conceived Virgin Mary.

Heinrich was the eldest of the four children ; his siblings were Charlotte, Gustav-who later became Baron Heine-Geldern and publisher of the Viennese newspaper Das Fremdenblatt-and Maximilian, later a physician in Saint Petersburg.

Other illustrious students include seventy-two saints and beati, among them Saint Robert Bellarmine, Saint Aloysius Gonzaga and Saint Maximilian Kolbe.

( Furthermore, Auschwitz I is the site of the martyrdom of Catholic Saint Maximilian Kolbe ).

Near it one can find a monument of the Saint Andrew, 600-years old oaks, a St. Maximilian cloister for Nuns, and a new-built pilgrim's hostel.
