Shane Embury, in particular, advocates the band as the origin of Napalm Death's later innovations.

In a Spin magazine article written about the genre, Steven Blush declares that " the man often credited " for dubbing the style grindcore was Shane Embury, Napalm Death's bassist since 1987.

He has fronted Hide, The Crown, Disfear, Skitsystem and the grindcore supergroup Lock Up, in which he performed alongside Napalm Death members Shane Embury ( bass ) and Jesse Pintado ( guitar ) and former Dimmu Borgir drummer, Nicholas Barker.

Mnemic's third studio album, titled Passenger, was produced by Christian Olde Wolbers of Fear Factory, featuring artwork by Asterik Studios, and guest vocals by Jeff Walker ( of Carcass and Brujeria ) and Shane Embury ( of Napalm Death, and Brujeria ).

Brujeria is a side-project of guitarist Dino Cazares ( founding member of Fear Factory ), and has featured artists such as Billy Gould, Nicholas Barker, Raymond Herrera, Jeff Walker and Shane Embury.
